AHHH it’s real y’all. I am going to back to school. I am celebrating my 20th YES my TWENTIETH class reunion, this summer, and a few weeks after that celebration I will finally be going to college.
Right out of high school I started working and shortly after that I got pregnant with my first. Since then I have worked as a Pharmacy Technician and of course my awesome blogging job, but most importantly I have been a full-time at home mom, enjoying every minute of raising my kids. I have made memories and gotten to be involved in their school and after school activities.
But now that all my kids are in middle school and above (my oldest is graduating next year…let’s just let that sink in for a minute) I miss working outside of the home. I also don’t want to give up the time my kids are off from school like summer, Christmas Break, etc. and I love working with the little bitty kids, so I decided that it was time for me to finally go to college to get a teaching degree.
So, yours truly is going to be a freshman in college, a true freshman because this will be my first time attending college. I am going to get a degree in early childhood education and hopefully in roughly four years (maybe a bit less if I can take classes full time all year) to be a kindergarten (or maybe Pre-K) teacher.
I’ll completely admit that I am scared to death. It’s been so long since I stepped foot in a classroom where I am the student (almost 20 years to be exact). So, it’s a litter nerve wracking. But I am also excited for this new chapter. I hope you will all follow along and maybe even help me with my homework…math is going to be killer for yours truly.
Join me starting in August as I share the highs and lows of what it’s like to be a college student. Until then, say a little prayer for me that God will be right with me every step of the way and that He will work things out. As with every other area of my life, I want this next chapter to glorify him.
So, this year I’ll be shopping for my school supplies while I am shopping for my kids’ school supplies. That’s so crazy, but kinda cool too. I hope they have some cute binders for yours truly!
Have you ever started or continued your education much later in life like me?
