Let’s be real here. In today’s world, it’s easy to get down. Whether you are drowning in debt (student loans, house, cars, etc), whether you are just so sad after reading the latest article about whatever horror is happening or you might just be depressed and no real understanding as to why, it’s easy to get discouraged. It’s been happening a lot to me lately, due to several different reasons. I would find myself crying in the bath, curled up on my bed, tears streaming down my face while I am at my desk. I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders and I couldn’t get happy. So, I knew I had to get in the word.
So, I decided to write some scriptures down that I can read (a thousand times if needed) to be encouraged. Today, because I know I am not the only person in the world who needs encouragement, I am sharing them with you. I have even created a free printable so if you don’t want to do like I did, and write them on index cards, you can simply click here and then print. You can fold the paper up and put it in your purse or wallet and pull it out when you need a little or a lot of encouragement from God’s word because truly He is what we need to hold onto when we are feeling discouraged.
Scriptures To Encourage You
But I will HOPE and continually PRAISE You yet more and more. Psalm 71:14 Praising God is a huge way I can lift my spirit, even if my situation doesn’t change, praising him allows joy to flood my soul.
I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart. Psalm 40:0 Following God’s will for your life won’t promise an easy path the whole time, but following it can help us have joy throughout because we know the end is something amazing.
In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul. Psalm 94:9. This one I repeat often. I am someone who struggles with anxiety and usually over situations I can’t change at that moment in time. What good does it do me to be anxious? Isn’t it so much better for me to look at what God has and is doing and let my soul be happy?
I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. Psalm 31:7
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1-2
All these verses I have written down on index cards in my purse so I can grab them out and read them when I am feeling anxious or just need to be encouraged. I hope these verses will help you like they help me.
What are some of your favorite scriptures for encouragement?
