It’s spring, that means you are growing or have grown some fresh herbs to use in your cooking. While using herbs in dinner dishes is fine and dandy, why not use them in a bit of a different way. Santa Margherita and Sparkling Ice have provided us with some yummy Garden-Inspired Cocktails to share with our readers. I love when cocktails are made a little bit less ordinary.
Once I made a Strawberry-Jalapeno margarita, and it was so delicious. Now I can’t wait to try the Cucumber Lime & Basil Prosecco Spritzer and the Lavender Lemon Sparkler. They both just scream spring/summer to me! First up is the later of the two!
Lavender Lemon Sparkler Cocktail
INGREDIENTS
1½ oz. gin
1 oz. lemon juice
1 oz. lavender syrup (recipe below)
4 oz. Sparkling Ice Classic Lemonade
Lemon twist and lavender sprig for garnish (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Fill a glass with crushed ice. Pour the gin, lemon juice, and the lavender syrup over the ice and stir. Float with Sparkling Ice Classic Lemonade, garnish with a lemon twist and lavender spring then serve.
Lavender Syrup Recipe
4 tablespoons dried lavender
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat, stir to dissolve sugar. Add lavender and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat, and allow the lavender to infuse for 30 minutes. Pour syrup through a finer strainer into an airtight container.
I LOVE Lavender anything, so I am looking forward to trying that out. Now let’s move onto the cocktail that just sounds refreshing!
Cucumber Lime and Basil Prosecco Spritzer
INGREDIENTS
1 lime juiced
4 basil leaves
4 cucumber slices
Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore DOCG
DIRECTIONS
Muddle lime juice, basil, and cucumber in a shaker glass. (For extra flavor infusion allow mixture to marinate in the fridge for at least one hour.)
Add ice and shake the mixture.
Strain the juice only (about ½ oz.) into a Prosecco glass.
Top with Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore DOCG and garnish with a basil leaf and cucumber slice.
Now doesn’t that just sound refreshing! These two garden-inspired cocktails are from Italian winery, Santa Margherita, and zero-calorie Sparkling Ice. I love that they are easy to make for outdoor dinners and spring soirees. What are some of your favorite cocktails with a twist?
