Samsung Galaxy S III Wrap Up #VZWA #Samp

The Samsung Galaxy S III has been my go to phone over the last 3 months…well when my kids don’t take it from me to play games on of course.  I have had a blast testing out the Galaxy S III and am a little sad this ambassadorship is over.  As with the end of any program it’s time to share my final thoughts and if I will be switching over from my current phone and provider.

What makes me want to switch phones and providers:

  • Super fast speeds.  When surfing the web and cruising apps side by side Verizon’s network beat out my iPhone 4s on AT&T.
  • Battery life!  It’s all about how long you can call/surf/play and the Samsung Galaxy S III definitely took the cake when it came to stamina.  The battery didn’t run out nearly as quicky as either my iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
  • Screen Size.  It’s no secret who the hands down winner is in screen size.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the humongous screen on the Samsung Galaxy S III.  It makes reading in my kindle, reading on the web so much easier.  Not to mention my kids love the bigger screen for the games.
  • Hotspot Feature.  Included in your Share Everything plan make your phone a hotspot and connect on the go.  No extra charges like AT&T.

Why I Want To Stick With My Current Phone & Provider:

  • Compatibility with my devices.  My current iPhone 5 works with each of my devices and syncs seamlessly to my iMac, MacBook, MacBook Air, and iPad.  I love that I have everything from photos and music easily grabbable between the devices.  Not so much with Samsung.  I would have had to download something extra for my photos and my music to be assessable on one of the computers….or download it on all three if I wanted to be able to add photos and such.  Even after I added it to my iMac it was not easy to figure out and I just ended up texting the photos and video to my iPhone.
  • UNLIMITED DATA…I have unlimited data with my current provider because I have been a customer so long (gotta love those grandfather clauses).  Need I say more.
  • Email Access.  I love that it’s so easy to access my blog, personal, church, family emails easy on my iPhone.  They were so easy to set up and it was a little more difficult to do on the Samsung Galaxy S III.  I was able to set my personal email up just fine but never could get my blog email to work.  I had to go to the web to get to it from the Galaxy and I definitely prefer to use the in phone email client.
  • Facetime.  My favorite way to connect with friends and family across the US is facetime!

Why It’s A Draw:

  • Apps.  There are so many apps on both the google play and iTunes app store that you will be hard pressed not to find the same ones or ones that are similar.
  • Dropped calls.  Both had dropped calls but in different areas.  So in area A I very well may say I would stay with Verizon while area B may be a better fit for AT&T.  I tested this around where I live and when I went on trips.   There was no clear winner.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S III and Verizon definitely made me seriously consider moving on from AT&T and Apple.  While I haven’t completely ruled out switching to the Samsung Galaxy S III, I don’t foresee myself leaving AT&T.  Not because Verizon lacked in any way, simply because with AT&T I have unlimited data for less than a data plan would cost me at Verizon.  Had I been with Verizon first and was grandfathered in on that same clause…I wouldn’t switch to AT&T.  It just makes more sense to get the better deal.

I loved both the service and the phone and while I don’t foresee myself switching I won’t say it will never happen….because at some point Verizon could serve my needs better than AT&T could and then I absolutely would switch.  I, of course, am always open to change….as long as the deal is good!  I have had a blast the last 3 months as a Verizon Wireless Ambassador.  I hope my readers have gained insight with my #VZWA posts, so when they are making a phone/carrier decision it’s a little less hard on them!  I know I would have appreciated posts like these when I was shopping around!

that’s great to know that the Galaxy S is a contender. I dont think I would be able to switch from AT&T but knowing that you would consider it if Verizon had a good deal is something to think about

I have heard so many amazing things about the Samsung Galaxy and it’s nice to know that it rates high up there with the iPhone 5.

Sounds like we have the same plan and ideas. I love my iPhone because I can get my calendar on all my devices like you said. I also have the unlimited data. That said because I have unlimited and refuse to give up that plan I can’t get the hotspot which really gets under my skin.
