I am sure you saw a few weeks ago that I was invited to attend an event (The Happy Healthy Family Gathering) with Nestle. Â My arrival day was blogged as I tried to gather thoughts on what exactly I wanted to post about for the 2 days we spent at Nestle. Â I have decided to start very simple and as time goes and I dig through the information received I will continue to post more in detail. Â Today I am going to very simply share with you the schedule we had during the 2 day event, along with a few sentences about the activities. Â Hopefully this will give you a little insight into our days and then stay tuned for much more detailed posts on different areas of Nestle and new happenings.
Let me simply say I am 30 years old and there is not a time I can remember in my life that Nestle has not been in it.  So for me getting to meet with a company I have had in my life for essentially the last 30 years was a privilege.  I remember back to when I was a small girl having my first No Baked cookies that my mom made using Nestle Toll-house Cocoa(and eating them while they were still warm and gooey) as well as it being one of the very first recipes I learned how to cook.  While I am talking about it let me go ahead  and share it with you:
No Bake Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 Stick Butter
- 1 tbsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. peanut butter (crunch or regular depending on your preferences)
- 1/2 c. milk (regular or soy)
- 2 tbsp. Nestle Toll-house Cocoa
- 1 c. sugar
- 4 c. oats (old fashioned)
Directions
- Use large skillet or pot and turn heat on burner to high
- Add butter and let melt
- To melted butter add vanilla and peanut butter, stir until melted (stir constantly so no burning)
- Add milk and cocoa and let all melt together.
- Stir in sugar and then oats, once mixed turn heat off and continue stirring for a few minutes until mixed well.
- Let sit to set and then drop onto wax paper by teaspoonful (or eat right away like me when it’s warm and gooey)
With Nestle having been in my life it was not a hard decision to go and meet with them and give them input on ideas and see how products have transformed since I was a child. Â The agenda for our 2 days at the Nestle Headquarters is as follows (with my thoughts in the parenthesis) Day 1 and 2 at Nestle, for arrival day please see my arrival day post:
Day 1:
- 8 a.m. ~ Welcome Breakfast (The bloggers and Nestle reps got to visit with one another and “wake-up” enjoy a wonderful breakfast and start the day)
- 9 a.m ~ Connecting to Nestle (basically getting our wi-fi working so we could bombard twitter with the things we learned about Nestle and of course twit pic’s of the big Nerd box)
- 9:30 a.m. ~ The Nestle Family Tree: An Introduction to Nestle and it’s Family of Brands (We got to spend time talking with the CEO himself about Nestle, share thoughts and bring up things we wanted to cover and questions we wanted answers to, this was a great time learning about Nestle’s history this actually went a bit longer than the original 15 minutes)
- 9:45 a.m. ~ Meet the Experts (We were introduced to some of the Nestle experts who we would be working with over the next few days)
- 10: 00 a.m. ~ The Candy Lab: From Concept to Store Shelves (This is where we learned all about my new favorite candy the Cranberry Raisinettes and I also got to assist in making a Nestle Crunch Bar, anything that puts me and chocolate together I will volunteer for you know. Â We got to see the new “vending” machine they are wanting to place in movie theaters where you can pick your candy as well as the Extroodler that will be in Dylan’s candy stores. Â The Extroodler is a machine that makes chocolate come out like a fettuccine noodle and it tastes divine)
- Noon ~ Very Best Meals: Spicing Up Dinners Your Kids Will Love (Lunchtime was wonderful, the soup they made had pumpkin in it and I have never tasted anything like it, must make it sometime).
- 1:30-2:00 p.m. Â Break Time (enjoyed snacks, as if i had room, and just visiting with Nestle employees and my new bloggy friends)
- 2:15 Taking a Moment: Wellness For You (Time for some stretching, seeing the Nestle gym which I loved it was very nice I may actually like working out in that gym)
- 3:00 p.m. Nutrition Innovations and Your Family (We learned about Ovaltine, Juicy Juice and Boost Kid Essentials. Â Nutritionists provided us with nutrition information and answered any nutrition questions we brought up, an informative session as well and by the way a little tidbit I love Juicy Juice)
- 4:30 p.m. Sweet Talk: Ice Cream Social (time on the balcony overlooking Glendale and a beautiful view into the mountains while noshing on Skinny Cow Bars and Ice Cream, yes I put sprinkle’s on my ice cream)
- 5:30 p.m. ~ Break time and changing for Dinner at Magic Castle (Dinner at the Magic Castle, yours truly here got to be a part of a magic card trick. Â With Nestle reps attending dinner along with us it was a great time to get to know each other outside of Nestle and share thoughts and ideas as well)
Day 2
- 9:00 a.m. ~ Breakfast at Nestle (A little happy we got to sleep in this day, though my body was on my time back home so when I turned over and the clock said 4:30 a.m. I was like oh no way is that happening LOL. Â Breakfast was again a time to visit and get ready for the day before the all the hectic happenings)
- 10:00 a.m. ~ Good Food, Good Life, Good Works (So much happened during this session, we learned all about the ways Nestle is giving back to the communities, in other countries, with mentoring programs and the works they do help so many people I was very impressed, more to come on this in later posts. Â After the sit down we went to an expo style session where different brands were set up and we had one on one time with reps for different areas of Nestle. Â Listening to our ideas as well this session was really about working together and giving back)
- 11:30 a.m. ~ Delivering Safe, Quality Food To Your Family: Q&A with Nestle Experts (We learned about the Ecoli that caused Nestle to pull their cookies from shelves and what they did when they relaunched it. Â With smaller sessions of giving our thoughts on health, food and what we as parents are concerned about for nutrition with our children it was great to hear the input of other bloggers as well as myself on what we could do to make our children’s food healthier or get them to eat healthier)
- 12:15 p.m. Let’s Fix Dinner (During lunch we had tips on preparing quick and easy meals from Stouffer’s and I personally have found out that I can put toppings on Macaroni and it makes it a whole new meal. Â Who knew something so simple could be so yummy. Â Stouffer’s is loved in our house and with their new express microwave meals dinner can be fixed in a jiffy for nights we have a game or a meeting and may not have time to sit down)
- 1:30 p.m. ~ Break for Bloggers (Yummy snacks from Nestle, Juicy Juice. Â I went with the cranberry cookie cups and some Nesquik Chocoloate milk along with the new Nescafe Dulco Gusto coffee)
- 2:00 p.m. ~ Creating Memorable Celebrations (With both a Halloween, which yes I will be buying Nestle candy for Halloween, and Christmas table full of adorable ideas to do during the holidays this session was both fun to look at and great to eat. Â Make and Takes, Marie, showed us how to make Goblins and how to package gifts in a creative way. Â I ended up with a snow man that no one understood why he had a pipe…err “A corn cob pipe and a button nose” ring a bell LOL. Â This was a great hands on session and a bit messy, my kids will love it)
- 3:00 p.m. A Look Back: Wrap Up and Thank You (The final thoughts and thanks to the bloggers from Nestle. Â During this time we all got a bit emotional and thankful for the event. Â Sharing thoughts on what we learned and giving feedback was a great way to wrap up the event)
- 4:00 p.m. Shopping at The Nest (Here is where we were able to shop in the employee store. Â I stocked up on Power Bars, Cranberry Raisinettes, and other miscellanous candies. Â I also learned that Nestle is part owner of companies I never realized such as Boutini pasta, Maybelline, L’Oreal, Lancome, Garnier, Maggi and many more. Â I never realized how many products I use that Nestle is behind)
- 4:30 p.m. Head back to the our hotel to rest before dinner at Twin Palms (a much needed rest it was a busy, informative, bonding, and great two days. Â I have so much more I want to share with you and will in several posts to come. Â First I wanted to let you see into our days at Nestle and share some tidbits of that time)
This event gave me insight, personally, why Nestle is a brand that will continue to be in my life. Â Not only do they have products I use but they give back and help others in so many ways. Â Please come back in the coming weeks as I sort through the papers and products and form more posts about Nestle and the event and go into much more detail about what I learned. Â I wanted to start with the overview so you as my readers, could see what the attendees did. Â I hope you will continue to follow my posts and learn new things about Nestle just as I did.
If I didn’t like what I saw or learned at Nestle you would and/or will see that here too, we were very informed that no matter what we post Nestle would be okay with it, and even if we didn’t want to continue our relationship with them they would be okay with that. Â I personally will continue with them, because I use and love many of their products, my opinions are my own and formed through the event as well as thoughts I had before I was ever offered the chance to attend the event.
**My expenses for the event (airfare, ground transportation, luggage fees, food during travel, accommodations, meals and other related costs) were paid or are due to reimbursed by Nestle USA for attending this event in  California. My opinions of Nestle were not asked of me, written or requested to be written, by Nestle or any of it’s representatives or agents. They are solely my opinions and my opinions only.
