A few weeks ago I introduced you to Dexter, the man who came into our homes and hearts. Today I am going to share a little bit about my other four legged baby, Guido. The tan man with a plan…to steal food and not get caught. Guido came to us as a tiny pup with nothing more than the hair on his back…he was a teensy little thing (though not a very big dog to this day). We got him from a church friend who had her hands full with a litter of little pups.
Having had Dexter as the lone ranger for a few years, we weren’t quite sure how he would react to having a four legged brother. I’ll let you come to your own conclusion:
He was curious at first,but today they are the best of friends. Whether they are trying to protect each other from attack dogs or playing tug of war with the rope they get along famously. Guido is a character, he has the “I Think I’m A Tough Guy” syndrome, you know the one where they think they are big and bad but when something scary is going on they turn chicken…that would be Guido. At least his heart is in the right place when it comes to protecting his family. He may be small but his bark is big, unfortunately it’s the bite that counts.
He’s still such a puppy (we got him at about 12 weeks old December 2010) so chewing is his favorite thing to do. He also likes to try to sneak food and I wish I had a video camera handy last night after our hot dog party but since I didn’t I will tell the story.
My family and I got together to get have a hot dog party and one child (my daughter) left her half-eaten hotdog with mustard on the table. As I was coming in to clean up I notice the plate was gone. I asked my husband if he had gotten it and he said no at about the same time Guido comes sauntering from under the table (his usual resting place) and as I looked closer I noticed he has a long strip of yellow down his back. Mystery of the missing hot dog…SOLVED. Apparently he has jumped up enough to knock the plate off the table and it flipped and landed on him before landing on the floor, where he enjoyed every last bit. He tried to act so normal but it was the fur dye that gave him away.
Guido is a character and goes with the flow. He has been a barbie horse, he will chase and eat bubbles and the best part is I’m his favorite LOL. We though we were complete with one little dog but we never knew it was really two we needed in our lives. Guido and Dexter give us laughs galore and memories we will treasure forever. Purina® Pro Plan® is asking passionate pet owners across the country to put their dog’s greatness on display in the “How is Your Dog Great?” video contest. From now until August 27, 2012, pet owners can upload a short film, less than two minutes in length, to the Pro Plan YouTube channel!
Purina wants to see your dog’s moments of greatness in an effort to inspire others to discover the greatness in their dogs!

The grand prize winner (the one who shows their doggies greatness the best) will have their video featured in a Pro Plan commercial!! Pretty cool if you ask me. I’d say my dogs are ready for their close up. It would be so fun to see them on a commercial while the family is watching television. I venture to say the doggies themselves may do a double take when they catch themselves on screen. The commercial will be unveiled at the 2013 Westminster Dog Show, presented by Purina Pro Plan. And Purina wants to keep your dog well feed, so the winner will also receive a year’s supply of Pro Plan brand dog food!
