It’s simple. I make dinner and clean up afterwards. My wife then has the time to help the kids with homework.

I try to make dinner easier by having everything ready to cook right on hand. I have also found out that it is often easier to make a big pot of stew or soup & leave it simmering & they can eat as they come in 🙂 With 5 kids ages from 9 to 24, it is hard to get everyone to eat at once, but I do my best & always keep sandwich stuff or microwave items for the one that isn’t ready to eat til the kitchens been done closed down:)

To make dinner easier I try to make meals that I can have leftovers to give myself a little break during the week. I will make chicken noodle soup then the next day we have soup and sandwiches and the 3rd day I’ll make chicken and dumplings. Plus that helps the budget too. Thank you for the great giveaway!

Okay, dinner time easier during the school year…
I do a lot of prep work on one day where this isn’t much going on. Usually Sundays. I chop up all veggies, make all the meat that needs to be ready, mix up all the sauces, etc. Then it’s just a matter of throwing in this and that and cooking. Voila!
i use my crock pot alot to help with supper.

There are a few great “cook once, eat for a month” type books at the library. The freezer is our friend.
Take one weekend a month, get the munchkins and the dad involved and make 5-6 recipes, ingredients bought around what was in your stores sales flyer. Make at least one vegetarian recipe. Divide into single or family sized servings and freeze.
Then just make a salad and rolls, heat up the frozen pre-made dinner and you are done.
This past month we had
White Chili
Pork stew
eggplant parmeseana
lemon chicken w/stir fry veggies
turkey burgers
And I also made chicken asparagus breakfast mini quiches
pumpkin muffins
pancakes and waffles
All frozen for future consumption

I at least try to lay our something to defrost the night before to help things more smoothly when I get home from work. If I forget to lay something out, we either do packaged food (like frozen pizza) or go out to eat.

I make things easier by pre-cooking some meals on the weekend and freezing them and reheating them for dinner during the week. Pre-cooking dinners makes life MUCH easier.
Every couple of weeks, I spend a day cooking away. I’ll make meatloafs, meatballs, lasagna’s and such. Cook them up and freeze them. I make enough of each item for 3-4 meals. Come the busy school week, I then have meals that are pretty much easy to put together.
Thanks so much for this great giveaway.

If it’s something that takes awhile to cook in the oven we start cooking it about the time my daughter gets off the bus. So that way it would be about done at dinner time. My husband and I take turns making dinner also and we sometimes do quick and easy meals.Sometimes we make a lot of something then freeze part of it for another meal.

I cook way ahead with both main meals and treats for lunches on the weekends. I also do mornings the night before so I am not rushed when I get up.
I cook on the weekends and freeze them for the week
I use a crockpot a lot to make good meals easier
I buy ready made ingredients to speed along the process – like pre made ravioli or cooked chicken strips
tvollowitz at aol dot com
I have dinner at the same time everyday so planning is easier
Honestly, I don’t do anything different with dinners during the school year.
I make dinner time easier by prepping ingredients ahead of time when I have free time. I’ll cut up veggies and store them in a ziploc bag, marinate beef or chicken the night before, make casseroles ahead of time and freeze them. It really does make a difference in getting dinner on the table in time! Happy Fall!

I have a two year old but when he is in school – if he’s not homeschooled – depending on where we live and the quality of the school system – I will make more then one meal on Sunday, and each enough for a few days or leftovers. And cold weather crock potting!

We use simple quick recipes to save time!
We use the crockpot more when school is in session. I’m so lucky the kids like soups and stews. Some times it’s a roast or pork loin. A couple of days of cooking and we have enough left overs for about 3 days. If all else fails we do good old tomato soup and grilled cheese.
I make a meal one night that can be used in several other different meals.
Each of my kids is assigned a day of the week–that they are my helper fixing dinner–that way I have help and some quality alone time with each child–we talk about friends, school, problems etc.
If I have the grandkids at dinner I make them something simple like chicken nuggets, toasted cheese or mac and weiners because they won’t eat what we eat .

I buy family packs of meat and separate them into individual packs. I freeze them and then when I need a quick meal I am prepared.
I cook a bunch of pasta at once time and freez it. Then when I need a quick meal I thaw some out and throw in my veggies and sauce – dinner’s ready in no time!
The easiest way is to make a pot roast or cook a turkey during the week end and then split up the meat to use in dishes during the week. I keep plenty of frozen veggies on hand to add along with pasta of all types and rice. Mix together and put in the oven while I attended to the kids and their home work.
with everyones soccer and work schedules we have been eating dinner later around 6:30 so we still eat together 🙂
