Getting to Know the Face behind A Daily Dose..ME!

I answered these questions a few months ago while I was still on my previous blog but they are still sitting in my drafts, so I thought ” I have readers that never saw this “interview” so I am going to post the Q&A on my blog” I apologize I don’t have who sent me which question anymore or I would link to you but here you go a little interview to get to know the Face behind A Daily Dose. This is going to take up half my front page LOL, sorry it’s long but it’s funny and you get to know me sooo..read it 🙂

If you were being sent to a deserted island for 2 months and were only allowed to take ONE item and ONE person with you, what would that one item and one person be and why? I would take the book Twilight because it is when I first fell in love with a vampire (no I am not crazy, you read it and tell me you didn’t fantasize of him). As for the person I would take my husband because when we got married I never had a real honeymoon so it could be our escape. Although that is subject to change if he ever makes me mad LOL.

If you could have one super power, what would it be? Definitely to be able to teleport! I think that is the right word. It would be awesome if I could zap myself somewhere! Could you imagine being able to zap yourself to Italy or Paris to shop for the day while the kids are in school! That would be a dream come true! Or making fiction reality then I could get Edward , oh yes that is for sure what I would do

Is “Toni” short for something? No, Toni is just for Toni. Although when I was in middle school I did tell people it was short for Antoinette then when I tried to tell them I was joking they didn’t believe me LOL.

What went through your mind when you saw your husband for the first time? Actually the very first time I saw him I didn’t really notice him because I was trying to work on my marriage to my ex Finally when I realized that my marriage was not worth working out for my sake and my sons sake, that is when I “saw” Brent. This wonderful man who had been standing in front of my face at work for the last 9 months was the most handsome guy I had ever seen! Then he spoke and I melted, not only was he breathtaking but he was the most caring, honest, sweet human being ever. He was better than I imagined and I just knew I was going to spend my life with him and he was the one who would love me for me and complete me. We went on our first date in September 02 and married in February 2003.

If time was not an issue, how many blogs would you have and what would they be about? I actually would probably just keep it to the 2 I have now. On A Daily Dose I jabber away about myself and other randomities. I talk about my kids on 2 Boys 1 Princess so that is really all I need, I’m good LOL.

What job did you think would be the best job in the whole world when you were little? I always thought a veterinarian was the coolest job when I was little. The ironic thing is, I am now afraid of pretty much all animals.

Do you have any mentors? Who are they? My mentor is definitely my mom! She is the woman I most admire and the parent I strive to be like. She raised me alone for most of my life and had hardships and she made it through every obstacle that came her way. If I could be even a small percentage to my kids what she was to me, my kids will be so lucky.

What characteristics do you see in your children that remind you of yourself? Of your husband? My oldest son is me made over. He looks exactly like I did when I was his age. My other two children are my husband completely they both look just like him. All our children are beautiful and no I am not just biased.

What do you find is the most challenging part about being a Mom ? The most challenging pat of being a mom for me personally is finding time for me and keeping my identity as a person and not just that of a mom. I think it is very important that all moms do this, they need to keep their identity so they don’t ever have an ounce of regret. Take time for yourself to focus on your needs as a person. It could be a pedicure once a week or even just going to the coffee shop to read a book away from home. Anything that you can do to keep you happy will result in being a better mother to your kids and they will love you for that.

What was the inspiration behind your blog ? Well let’s see. My inspiration behind A Daily Dose of Toni was to just have a place to gab and share anything I felt like it. As for 2 Boys 1 Princess it was created so that family and friends that don’t have the opportunity to see us often could keep up with the kids through pictures and stories and not have to deal with the ramdomness that is on my main blog.

What tips to do have for balancing career and family ? No matter what family should always come first, in my book. I think you need to go to work and give it your all yes but when you walk out that work door that should be the end of your day, I think family is the most important thing and should be second to a career.

What is your favorite part about being a Mom ? My favorite part of being a mom has to be the sweet moments you know the ones when they climb up next to you on the couch. Or crawl into your lap and give you a hug and kiss. At some point they won’t want to do that anymore I am sure so I treasure ever moment like that.

If you could change one thing about your life what would it be ? The first thing that always comes to mind is to say I would have went to college. However then I think about Gabriel and know that if I had went to college I may not have him. So really I would not change one thing about my life, because all the good times, bad times and everything in between is why I am who I am and I am happy with my life just the way it is.

How’d you meet your hubby? I met him when I moved here and started working as a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart. He was already working there .

Tell us about your family. My family is absolutely awesome. I could not ask for a better family. My husband is absolutely hands down the most amazing man out there, in my opinion no one can compare to him. He is the most caring and loving and handsome man I have ever known and I was lucky enough to snag him. We started dating in September 2002 and got married in February 2003. It took us about 9 months to really talk because as mentioned I was trying to work on my past marriage, when finally I realized it was not worth working on and then that is when I saw Brent for the “first time” Now granted I saw him plenty of times at work but it was like my eyes were finally unshielded to this wonderful man. After we got married for the first year I was nothing even close to the perfect wife, I was distant and rude to him and it was because I had never let myself get closure from my past relationship and I took it out on Brent. Yet he stood by me and everyday I look at him and wonder how I got so lucky and what I did to deserve him. Everyday I fall in love with him all over again.

Our oldest son Gabriel is almost 9 and he is such a wonderful child. He is one of those all american boys, you know blonde hair, plays every sport that is available. He plays soccer, basketball, football, and baseball. He is in cubscouts as well. So as you can imagine there is not a season we are not busy, whether it be games or campouts there is always something going on. My husband came into our lives when Gabriel was 3 and he has been the best father I could have asked for to him. He has loved him just the same as our other children. When Gabriel was 6 my husband legally adopted him making it official, we all have the same last name now and let me tell you nothing made my son happier than the day he got to have Patton as his last name. I love watching Brent and Gabriel practice sports or work on the latest cub scout project it truly is as if he has been there from the very beginning and that is to me one of the most special things about my family.

Aidan our middle child, is one of those “man of few words”. He doesn’t talk a whole lot but he when he does talk it’s because he wants to be heard. He loves to play video and computer games. He is one of the bigger children for his age so I call him my “gentle giant”. He is the one who will walk up and just rub your back or hold your hand. He is in preschool this year because socially we just didn’t think he was quite ready for kindergarten. He turned 5 August 15 and school started on the 19th. He definitely takes after my husband in the being quiet area.

Bella is our baby and let me begin by saying she one of those children you are talking about when you say “If I would have had my last child first I would have only one child”. As you may have seen from posts in the past she is the one who gets into absolutely everything and gives me heart attacks. She is the one who holds her own, on any given day you can see both my 9 and 5 year old boys running from her screaming because she is trying to hit them with something or another. I don’t have to worry about her no being able to hold my own. She is prissy as they come and will tell you she is a princess. Oh well at least she keeps it interesting. She is absolutely beautiful and the light of my world.

What made you get started into blogging? I just wanted a place to talk and vent, I used to keep a journal but they are so 1990’s LOL so blogging was the next best thing.

What are your hobbies? Well I used to shop all the time, though I have cut back and rarely go anymore it really is a travesty. However, I am not sure that is considered a hobby. I love to read, dance and play with my kids. Give me a soccer ball and I am ready to have some fun with them.

What is something random that most people don’t know about you? Hmmm, I can pick things up with my toes, is that random? I really don’t know that there is anything people don’t know I am a pretty open book.

If you had 3 wishes right now, what would you wish for? And wishing for more wishes doesn’t count. First I would wish that my kids would know no pain or worry, I know that sounds weird but imagine life without pain or worry wouldn’t that be wonderful. Second would be that I win the lottery a huge one, then I could get all my family out of debt and my family for generations to come would be taken care of. Third would be that I could all of the sudden be able to speak fluent Italian, hey what can I say I am 1/2 Italian after all!

If you had 5 minutes to evacuate your house, what would you grab to take with you? Photo albums, kids blankets, hard drive and laptop!

What is one of the funniest moments of your life? Oh lord my best friend is going to kill me for this but it is the funniest thing ever, it is more embarrassing for her so I won’t mention any names. We will call her BB.

So BB and I went with a lot of other kids after we graduated on our senior trip to Cancun. Of course we had a wonderful time, partying and acting crazy and eating the yummy food. One day I guess the food didn’t exactly agree with me (think Montezuma’s Revenge) so we had to high tail it back to the hotel. Once in the hotel I fly into the toilet area, it was one of those small areas with a sliding door and there was a toilet and directly across from the toilet a bidet. So I am doing my duty, if that is what you want to call it when all the sudden

BB knocks on the door and asks “Um Toni how much longer are you gonna be?” “Well I am not sure my stomach hurts really bad, why?” “Because I really have to go, can you please hurry” “Um I can’t make myself go any faster” All of the sudden the door slides open and she says “I can’t hold it” So picture this, I am sitting on the toilet going poo, and she bursts in. I am thinking What in the world is she doing. She is either A) going to push me off the toilet and make me poo on myself or B) she is going to push me over and try to go at the same time. Right about the time I think she is going to do one of those she sits down on the bidet!!!!!!!!!! In the little toilet room my best friend and I are sitting literally knee to knee one of us taking a doodie in the toilet and the other in the bidet.

Well finally after I finish doing my duty I get the heck out of there and wait for her to get done so we can hit up the next club. Then I hear her “Oh, this is not good” So I run in there and was like ‘What?” “Well I can’t flush it down” (if you know what a bidet is you know the little drain hole is made for liquid only so it is not big at all) ” Didn’t you think about that before you went on there” “No, I just had to go”. After a few minutes of figuring out what to do with the poo, one of us gets the brilliant idea to stuff the poo down the drain. Now knowing good and well this is not my poo, I am not touching it!! So she finds a pencil and starts stuffing the poo down the drain, all the while I am dying and in tears from laughing so hard. All ends well and all the poo gets stuffed and we carry on like a bunch of 17 year olds would in a land of partying. So there you have it, the funniest story that sort of happened to me.

What kind of car do you drive? I drive the typical soccer mom vehicle….a minivan, though I do have plans to have a Lexus convertible at some point down the road!

Do you want to have more kids? Well when I see a tiny baby, I wish I could have one however I want them to stay that small LOL. So really no I don’t because I do not want to go through the stage my daughter is in now I would go crazy if I had to go through this age again.
