Prima Princessa: The Nutcracker

Prima Princessa

I recently had the chance to review Prima Princessa’s newest addition, The Nutcracker.  As a veteran ballerina (for 14 years) I have always loved The Nutcracker.  It is absolutely one of my favorite ballet’s.  I am hoping my daughter will inherit the love of ballet’s as she grows older but for now it’s hard enough for her to sit still through a kid movie, the ballet is quite a few years away I presume.  Which is where Prima Princess comes in.  It brings the show to your home and adds a bit of ballet for the little ones to dance along with so it is never boring.

Prima PrincessaThe minute I turned on the movie and Prima Princessa made her appearance my daughter was at full attention, ready to watch and dance.  I love watching her mimic the moves of the ballet performers both during the show and during the lesson part of the video.  It truly captivates her from beginning to end.

With the  San Francisco Ballet performing Nutcracker,  Prima Princess (an adorable cartoon ballerina) narrates the ballet. In this edition you get to see Clara and all the other characters of The Nutcracker.  With the famous Dance of the Flowers, and traveling through the world from Arabia to China it’s sure to bring a smile to your little one’s face. In between acts American School of Ballet students will show you and your little one some steps to get them ready for their center stage moment.  It truly is an enjoyable experience for everyone.

A little about how Prima Princessa came to be (taken from their site):

Stephanie and Mary Kate, both stay-at home-moms, became friends through their young children. One day Mary Kate Mellow asked Stephanie Troeller if she knew of any really good ballet DVDs for our girls.  Stephanie had two tutu obsessed daughters and as it turned out she also had been searching for ballet friendly DVDs for kids. “Mary Kate and I spent about a year searching for live performance ballet DVDs that our little kids would really like,” said Stephanie. To make a long story short, despite having no experience in film making, the two decided to make their own movie, without a studio, without a professional producer, just Stephanie and Mary Kate.

Mother made and mother approved (by me) this is definitely a DVD you will want in your house if you have children.  My daughter loves every minute of it and twirls right along with them.  It’s perfect for the upcoming holiday’s if you are searching for something that will keep their attention, make them smile and get them moving.  So head over and get a copy of The Nutcracker for that special little girl on your holiday list today.
