Ride In Style With The 2013 Kia Optima SX Limited

Last week I shared my experience with the 2013 Kia Rio, this time I want to share something that would be a little better suited for my family of 5.  The Kia Optima SX Limited.   Hellooooooooo beautiful…

Kia Optima

I fell in love with the Kia Optima SX Limited as soon as I laid eyes on it.  The snow white color with pearl black trim just screamed sporty.  The 18″ chrome wheels, which is a unique design, are sporty enough that even my husband would drive this car, not to girly for him.

One more part of the exterior (don’t you worry we are getting to the  magnificent interior in a moment) that I love, which actually is part of the interior as well, is the Panoramic sunroom.  Both front and back seat riders can see up into the beautiful blue sky.  Open the sunroom all the way,  so you can get that fresh air on the warm summer days, but only the front portion opens like that.  The button that opens the roof to the sunroof is a bit touchy so be careful if you aren’t wanting open air, you may want to try it a few times and not for the first time in a rain storm so you don’t accidentally open it all the way instead of just open view.

Now, while looks are important to me on a car (yes I fully admit that), what matters the most are options and comfort level inside the car.  With my family of 5 we can’t go for the smaller cars but the Kia Optima SX Limited worked perfectly anytime we had five people in it.  Full leather seats made this mom happy.  Every car I have owned, with the exception of one, since having kids have had leather seats, they just work better for spills and such.  The seats in this car were beautiful white leather….which I loved to look at but not so sure I would have them with kids.  I would definitely prefer tan for kids, now if it were just me, I would be all about the white because it was beautiful.  Both front and back seats were very roomy with plenty of leg room.  With 3 kids, that is a MUST!

The Kia Optima SX Limited boasts features galore.  Here are just a very few of them:

  • Dual-Zone Automatic Tempature w/ Rear Vents.  This is perfect if you have a passenger that differs from the driver when it comes to hot/cold.  Just change the thermostat to your liking and both are happy.
  • AM/FM/CD/MP3 Audio system.  Play music from your favorite cd’s or straight from your device right through the speakers.  You can connect manually or stream through bluetooth.
  • Remote Keyless Entry & Push Button Start.  No need to ever take your keys out of your purse, which means less chance of them getting lost!
  • Cruise Control, Power Adj. Drivers Seat w/ Power Lumbar Support, Auto-Dimming Mirror, Heated Outside Mirrors, Power Folding Outside Mirrors, Rear Camera Display, & Driver’s Seat Memory.  All of these are meant to make the drivers “behind the wheel life” a little easier.  I absolutely LOVED the seat memory.  With 2 programmable options all I had to do was hit a button to get to my seat settings and then driver 2 could do the same thing when they drive.  No more manually adjusting…this also works for outside mirrors, so get everything set, save and voila!
  • Heated & Cooled Front seats.  I have always been a fan of heated seats in cold weather but in hot Florida how nice would it be to have cooled seats during those hot, summer months!!
  • Auto Hold.  This is another one of my FAVORITE features.  You do have to push it to activate it each time you start the car.   After activated, the auto hold, holds your break for you.  Once you have had the break on for 1 full second you can release and you don’t go anywhere.  This worked great in traffic and at long lights.

Kia Optima SXL Interior & Trunk Kia Optima SXL Features

With almost everything at the touch of your finger tips on the steering wheel and voice control, the Kia Optima is helping make driving a little safer for us all.  No more needing to pick up that phone to call someone or trying to punch in an address while driving.  Simply press the voice control button and tell it who to call, where you want to go,  what station you want to hear, and a few other commands.   Last, storage, this is a big one for us because, as mentioned, we are a family of five.  I was pleasantly surprised with how big the trunk was for a car (that isn’t an SUV or mini-van).  As you can see above I had my camera bag in the corner of the trunk and it is a decent sized camera bag.   There was A TON of room in this trunk, plenty enough for our 5 suitcases and bathroom bags to be honest.

Overall, I was very head over heels about the 2013 Kia Optima SXL.  I really hoped I would be able to keep it for a year or two and do a long term review…no such luck.  It did, however, make me realize that Kia is definitely a contendor when we get ready to buy again.  The 2013 Kia Optima SXL like I drove has a suggested retail price of $35, 275.00 with all the above options (and many I didn’t list).

**Disclosure: I received a vehicle for review via Kia Motors and driveSTI. All opinions are 100% my own.**
