It’s the last day in January and about mid-month, I decided to start a reading challenge for this year. I am inviting all my readers to join in this challenge through the year. I love to read and I love to find new books to read, which is why the 2014 Reading Challenge came to be. Reading is a way for me to take a moment for me, in my busy life, I don’t do a lot for myself, but taking a few moments to lose myself in a book is sometimes all I need.
As each month comes to a close, I want to hear all about what you have read (to inspire new books for me) and share what I have read. I am also planning a giveaway at the end of each month, that has something to do with reading. It may be one of the books I have read, reading accessory, or who knows what else. Today I am giving away my favorite reading device. Before we get to that, I want to share the books I read since I started the challenge.
A Woman and Her God by Beth Moore // Outpost by Ann Agguire
Horde by Ann Agguire // The Fault In Our Stars by John Greene
A Woman and Her God. This was my morning devotion and it was so inspiring. Many of today’s most extraordinary Christian women communicators join together to impart the wisdom God has given them–and to help women realize all God intended for them.
OutPost is the second in a trilogy (so be sure to check out Enclave first). After reading the first, I snatched up Outpost because I had to know what happened when Deuce and Fade went topside. Aligning with unlikely allies, this book shows how Duece has to adjust to a world she has never known. Once considered an adult, she is now considered a “brat” (child). The freaks have grown smarter and Deuce wants to help make sure Salvation is safe.
In Horde, the monsters are at the gates and they are staying. Deuce and her partners from the previous books have to set out with the odds against them. That’s something Deuce is used to. She faces the challenge with her companions to save the people she loves. As they help not only their own settlement, but surrounding settlements, they realize this is going to be a war.
The Fault In Our Stars is a book that will make you laugh and cry. I fully admit to sobbing during the book. Hazel has always been terminal when it came to her tumor. She is resigned to that and lives a life of complacency…until Augustus Waters. Her life takes a turn, she never expected and we get to follow along the beautify and heart breaking journey.
I can’t begin to say enough about the books I read. I highly suggest picking them up or adding them to your kindle library! Don’t have a Kindle? I can help with that. As we end the first month, I want to give the gift of reading of a Kindle Paperwhite to one of my readers.

I read the Book Theif earlier this month and greatly enjoyed it. I wish I had more time to sit and read, there are so many books I want to get to!
My favorite book is “The Diary of Anne Frank” it doesn’t matter how many times I read it, I’m still on the edge of my seat.
One of my all time favorite books is actually the first of a series (the whole series is great) Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz. It’s a great supernatural adventure of a fry cook named Odd who has a special ability that he uses to help others and pretty much save the world.
I LOVED The Fault in Our Stars and I’ll admit to sobbing too.
I haven’t read that particular Beth Moore book, but I have read several of hers, I’ll have to check that one out.
I was just recommended the trilogy by Ann Aquire by another friend, so I’ve put it on my list.
I forgot to answer the question. My favorite book of all time, that’s a hard one to pick. Probably Little Women. I still enjoy re-reading it, especially to my daughters.
As for January reads — My job is with books, so I read a ton. Just a few from January are Racing Savannah by Miranda Kenneally, Believe Erin McCarthy, Take a Chance Abbi Glines, Until You Penelope Douglas. There were more, but these will do. I think I’m going to have to join your Challenge so I can keep up better.
Gosh, I don’t know if I could pick one favorite. I love the Chronicles of Narnia.
I am so behind on my reading, my Goodreads account has virtual cobwebs! LOL But I decided to start reading the full Chronicles of Narnia.
I love to read! I always have my e-reader on me. My favorite book is The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult.
I can’t pick one favorite, each book I read leaves an impression, some last longer than others. I read a couple books this month and they are listed on my blog.
Love anything by Jodi Picoult
The first book you recommend, the devotional, sounds like something I might pick up. I’ll be honest, most days I’m just so self focused I don’t really sit to think about what is most important, and it leads me to get lost and often just not be who I want to be and should be :-/ A daily reminder sounds good to me.
