I am a bit annoyed…and yet in aww of the stupidity of people

So it’s tax free weekend here this weekend, well the way they do it is, you spend the tax then you take your receipts to the mall info area and they give you back 10% of what you spent on a gift card. So basically $20.00 for $200 spent, etc (tax is 9.25% here so you get very little back really outside of tax).

Well it’s school and my poor son doesn’t have a stitch of clothing (well he has 2 pair of shorts and one pair of shoes and a few shirts, the rest he outgrew) so we find this out and head to the mall so we get some shorts and shirts for him and of course one for Aidan too, then dh gets some shirts, we eat lunch (because it is included), then I get some headbands some glasses and shirts and jeans.

So then I take my receipts totaling more than the minimum amount and the jerk offs tell me JCPenney (as well as Dillard and Sears) does not count! What the h*ll!!!!!!! Doesn’t count! That is where I spent $100 dollars at that should be 10.00 on my gift card but no it doesn’t count! So then it makes me like 10 dollars short of the minimum, well I just spent all that I sure as damn well am going to get something in return, so what did I do, yep I went and got another Webkinz so we could push over the 10.00 limit.

I march myself back down there, quite smugly I might add, to get my gift card and while waiting I hear someone else having to go through the same thing I did and the excuse given to them was and I quote “Well with the bigger department stores like that people may just go in there to get something even if they don’t need it just to get the gift card.” Well no s**t Sherlock! Exactly what store do you presume they won’t do this in, if it is a person that is going to do that?

Now tell me how in the world it makes sense to say that when there are 150 other stores that the same dang thing could happen in, if that’s the case they only need to make refunds on lunch because that is the only thing that can’t be returned really (well I guess it could but highly unlikely). So to all you people at the mall that shall remain nameless, please change your stupid rule!

*I bet the lady that paid in front of me at JcPenney was pissed when she found this out, she spent almost $400.00 so I doubt she was going anywhere else, so I don’t have it as bad as some people if I look at it that way!

I hate exceptions like that. You’d think you would have been told ahead of time. Good for you though for figuring out a way to beat the system.

  2. 2

How stupid, you would think that they would let people know. Of course the big store would rather you disn’t know so you will spend money there.

  3. 3

Oh I would have been ticked! If that’s how they were going to do it then they needed to advertise that ahead of time!

  4. 4

WOW That sucks. Did u get anything in return?

  5. 5

    That’s one stupid a$$ exception.

I would take it up with mall supervisors. Because at least if it was the rule, it should have been known forefront.

Sounds like some lame excuse that should have been disclosed upfront. grrrrrrrrrr

I would be upset too!! How ridiculous. You crack me up about buying another Webkinz! We have a ton in my house too!

So there are stores that don’t participate??

That tax rate is OFF the charts! Holy crap.

We’re buried in those dang Webkinz too. Too bad a few are mine. I love that damn Dicekinz game on there. LOL
