We are just a few days away from the theatrical release of Mockingjay Part 1 and yes, I will likely be one of the one there on opening weekend. I have been to the theater for both the first two movies in the Hunger Games series and I have been counting down until the release of the third movie. That time is almost here, just a few days away from today on 11/21, it will be in theaters nationwide. To celebrate it and my sons 15th birthday we had a get together with family and friends!
With some chicken wings, chocolate cake, and cookie cake, we were ready to discuss this third and final book as we gear up for the first of two movies to finish out The Hunger Games story. Having read all three books within the span of a few days I was excited to chat with friends and family about this, full of action, book in the series.
As we discussed the book, those of us who had read the books, really loved the way Mockingjay tied up an ending to the series. Some series do the “leave it to your own imagination” ending and that frustrates me, because I want to know what happens to the characters. Throughout the novel, we noticed there was a lot of action, which I think is going to play out pretty dang awesome in the movie. The characters really drew all of us in and are the reason we all read the entire series!
Katniss is such a strong female, and such a great example of standing up to do the right thing. While there is violence throughout the book, it is not so much that I would be afraid to let my 9 year old daughter read it. As you can see from above, she is super excited to have a copy of her own! She has seen the first two movies with me and will definitely be heading to see this one with me, this weekend! While discussing the book, we also took a chance to check out the trailer for Mockingjay Part 1, and that got us all super excited to see the movie! Check it out:
