Fill ‘er up-Blog Trip Day 2

So today’s blog trip is all about a very sensitive subject that not many like to talk about in fact sometimes it is down right umcomfortable to bring up…gas, as in gasoline. You know that much needed necessity to keep your car running so you can take your upteenth trip to Wal-Mart to get the toilet paper you forgot on your shopping trip. Without this there would be no soccer practices, class parties, food on our table, yet I find it highly ironic the thing we need to do all this is the thing that has the potential to keep us from being able to do any of that.

Gas in the Springdale/Fayetteville area not to long ago ranged from $3.85-$3.99, well in a 24 gallon minivan that was not fun. Luckily it has dropped to $3.50-$3.59, so that is almost half a dollar which is nice but it is still high enough that I don’t leave my house unless I absolutely need too. Since my husband has no choice, he has to go to an outside of the home job Monday-Friday so he has to fill up every 1.5 weeks (this is as long as he has no extras like hunting, fantasy football draft picks, you know the important stuff) so I try to make it where I only have to fill up once a month (or twice at most).

I remember when I moved here in 2002 and gas was .98 and it went up to $1.25 and I was having a coronary over that. Oh what I wouldn’t give to have that $1.25 now! Oh well you do what you can right. Maybe just maybe there will be some relief in the near future.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to this:

I mean after all we are already saying:

So what are your gas saving tricks??

I think our tricks are just like yours. Make fewer trips.

  2. 2

I have scaled back my unnecessary driving and try to plan all the errands for one day. We’ve also allocated more of our budget to gas and have had to decrease in other areas.

Well, at least you’re lower than we are right now! We’re still closer to the $4/gallon mark. We only have one car, so my husband drives that, but we live 20 miles away from his work, so he fills up about every week. Then to go do our shopping, it’s about a 20 min drive for me, due to the traffic. So I only go out once a week, or less, to try to do absolutely everything that needs to be done.

That’s about the price of gas in my area. The thought is so depressing. I don’t worry about saving too much anymore. Besides going back and forth to work, I try to set aside a day for errands. I always forget something and have to make another trip or something breaks in the house, so the savings just goes out the window.

Gas price seems to be showing decrease every where…let’s really hope it doesn’t reach $5.
