One of the first movies I remember seeing in a theater was E.T. The lovable alien, who we always think of when we need to phone home, is helping Universal Studios’ celebrate their 100th anniversary. Starting October 9, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, will be available for the first time ever on Blu-ray. The all-new, digitally remastered picture, Blu-Ray Combo Pack includes the 1982 theatrical movie, an all new interview with director Steven Spielberg, and “The E.T. Journals” featuring never-before-seen footage from the set of the film. It also includes Ultra-Violet, a DVD and, a Digital Copy of the film. Which means fans like me can enjoy the classic movie no matter where we are.
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for this to come out on Blu-ray. My kids have never seen the movie and since we are headed out to the beach for a family weekend it’s the perfect time to introduce them to E.T. and the movie I loved growing up. There are so many bonus features included that will make the movie like new to me as well.
- The E.T. Journals: Retrace the day-to-day experience of creating E.T. from never-before-seen footage.
- Deleted Scenes: Two scenes from the 2002 version of the film
- A Look Back: Interviews with the cast, Steven, and others involved in making the film.
- The E.T. Reunion: The cast and filmmakers reunite to share their thoughts on the impact of the film.
- And so much more!
While you wait for the Blu-ray to hit shelves on October 9 have a little Extra Terrestrial fun with activities and E.T. themed food like Flying Saucer cookies and Reese’s Pieces Snack Mix!

When an imaginative boy meets a lost alien, it is the beginning of one of cinema’s most endearing friendships, as Elliot (Henry Thomas) helps the marvelous creature he calls E.T. find his way back home before government agents can capture him.
Keep up with everything E.T. by joining them on facebook, pinterest, and twitter (use #ETPhoneHome).
E.T. Extra Terrestrial comes to Blu-ray on October 9, 2012. Are you ready??!!
**I was sent a Blu-ray combo pack and miniature E.T. toy for posting purposes. All opinons are my own and honest.
