Brighten Someones Day Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

brighten

Friends are a key part of life, in this post, I share some of my best friends. Check out this story, a friend of mine wants to share:

I was recently in the doctor’s office waiting to be seen when an elderly man walked up the the reception window. It was his first time there, and the receptionist handed him a stack of paperwork to complete. He looked bewildered. He asked if he could just answer the questions to the receptionist. She told him to have a seat and work his way through the papers. He shuffled over to a chair. I was checking my email, but watched him as he sat staring into space. Just then, another patient asked, “Could I help you with that?” “What do you mean?” he answered. “I could ask you the questions and write them down for you.” she said. I thought the man was going to cry as he handed her the paperwork. As I watched her walk him through the questions, I thought, “Why didn’t I ask that question?” Someone dropped him off. He didn’t have a friend. Now he did.

Do you treasure your friends? Watching this interaction unfold made me think about how busy I get, and how I forget to tell my friends how much I treasure them. I definitely want them to know how much they mean to me!!

I was having a rough day a couple of years ago and during my dental appointment my dentist declared me patient of the day and gifted me with a Starbucks gift card and coffee mug.

Back when I was a teacher, my room teachers brought me breakfast every morning for a week. It wasn’t a school wide appreciation week or anything, they just did it out of the kindness of their hearts and I was so touched!

The best thing is my best friend always prays for me. No matter what time of day, she will answer my call/text and pray for whatever is going on. She always follows up later to make sure I’m doing okay. It is a comfort to know that someone loves you enough to stop what they are doing and pray for you and make sure you are okay. She’s the best!

I was a new mom and breastfeeding my daughter in a fast food restaurant. I was really self conscious. A man came up to me and I was all prepared for him to say something negative. He completely surprised me and told me that I was a good mom.

This probably isn’t the nicest, but it’s one of the most recent. I was having a bad morning. Bad hair, running late, bills to get in the mail, bus to catch…you know the drill. I started my Keurig and then ended up walking away because I had something else to do. While I was busy, my son made my cup of coffee, set it on the counter, and added a little note that said “have a great day’, with a heart on it. It’s amazing how the littlest thing can mean so much!

My best days are when my family or friends help me out without me asking. Clean the yard, sweep, or just be here for me.

They called me when my dog got out to let me know she was safe and where to collect her!

  25. 25

The nicest thing someone ever did to brighten my day was a stranger buying me a coffee. It was a thoughtful gesture and the coffee was delicious.

  26. 26

I was working in my yard last summer applying mulch (which is not a 1 person job) and my buddy stopped what he was doing and joined the fun for the next 3 hours. He never seemed bothered that his plans had changed and never asked for a thing. We tend to help each other out a lot like that and it’s the best feeling knowing they do that because they care about you as a person.

BTW–loved the article and I am a firm believer in Karma and always know somewhere down the line it catches up to you so I try to help anyway I can–even little gestures go a long way–especially from a stranger. Great job!
