BlogHer 09: My Thoughts, My Pride and The Short Insert About Stupid People

LabelDaddy
*My AMAZING label daddy team members, and closest friends I might add, Sara, myself, Scott (one of the dads behind label daddy), and Miranda. I have another picture with the other team member in it I just haven’t uploaded it so be on the watch, I haven’t forgotten the wonderful Bridgette.

Hanes
* This was at the Hanes Comfort Social, thank goodness it was small and intimate! I love every single one of these women!

The sessions I attended were wonderful, especially the one with Avitable, Childs Play X 2, and Busy Dad. By far the best session of the whole conference. Vaginally Challenged had to be one of the funniest and best sessions that I learned from. It was absolutely amazing to get a male bloggers POV not to mention they were pretty hot, err not that I noticed.

The people were absolutely amazing and friendly. I loved Melissa from Consumer Queen, she is absolutely the sweetest person ever! I thought I may pass out when I met Katja from Skimbaco Lifestyle. Luckily I was able to hold it together and even have a conversation with her, loving her accent the whole time!

The parties were amazing and my favorite was Bowlher, I finally got to meet John Andrews from Collective Bias. You know he and I live in the same town and it took us going all the way to Chicago to finally meet up…hmmm that must be worked on. Everyone danced, bowled (I sucked by the way), walked the red carpet, played some pool and had just a great time.

Lost of swag over the weekend, and I had to UPS it all back to myself LOL. However my kids will be thrilled when the package arrives. I attended 3 private parties, Nikon, Hanes Comfort and the Tide Luncheon. I loved both the Hanes and Tide, they were pretty intimate and small and just a good time. I learned quite a bit of science at Tide and at Hanes I just got to chat with fellow bloggers and of course Hanes themselves. Nikon was amazing as well with food, massages, and makeovers.

Oh and did I mention I met Carson Kressley! He was doing a thing where they take your picture then look at it and tell you what to improve to make your pictures look better. My awesome buddy Jen and I took our photo together and when we took it, well there were no improvements he said we needed and I took that as a huge compliment, though even getting some pointers from him would be a compliment as well.

* A little side note, even the photographers were like “Wow y’all are all posing like supermodels” I got a chuckle out of it but let it stroke my ego anyways LOL.

So we took our second awesome shot and started to walk off, because well when you look good you bee bop yourself off with some pride. Then he was like “Would you like to take a picture with me?” We almost forgot we were so proud of not having anything that needed to be changed LOL. So we took our photo with Carson and walked off beaming. Ahh yes I can see the spotlights and paparazzi now, oh yes I can!!! I expect a call from his agent sometime in the near future, LOL.

I had, overall, an absolutely wonderful time at BlogHer this year. Although I do think with 1500 women and it being so big, this is not the place for a newbie with conferences. It was my very first conference EVER and it was a bit overwhelming. Heck, it may not even be the place for non newbies with some of the drama that was absolutely unnecessary but people still felt the need to create. I guess those bloggers that “hate mean girls” let their jealousy get the best of them and go on the attack even when unprovoked. It’s only a matter of time and a few more conferences before these girls have absolutely no one left (bloggers, pr, etc) to turn to and have only really hurt themselves. And for what reason? To feel more powerful, well I can just say mean does not equal power it equals YOU ARE A JERK plain and simple ๐Ÿ™‚

*Sorry no names you nosey people, they shall remain anonymous but I am sure they know who they are*

So my tip for BlogHer or any other conference for that matter, go have a blast and be yourself, in the end EVERYONE see YOU for who you TRULY are! And that is AWESOME (for me anyways, not so much for some). I hope everyone else had a great time at BlogHer and I look forward to doing it again. Next stop SITScation!

Now if you have a BlogHer post I want to read it and I am sure my readers will to, so link the post url up in Mister Linky below:

I am SO glad you had a fab time! I can't wait to attend next year but hopefully minus the drama! Seems like though, no matter what it is there will always be drama no matter how much you try to avoid it. It's not a Competition that some people think it is.
Next year I plan on driving to NY! LOL Will be a long drive from where we are, but man I really want to go and maybe within the year I can get to know more bloggers ๐Ÿ™‚
Loved the pictures you took! Looked so fun!

    So Not Mom-a-licious

I am dying to know what happened. Just wrote a post begging for somebody to give us the gossip! I knew there would be bitchy, catty drama…but I want to know the whole story!
    ugh…I still feel empty inside.
Just wait for SITScation. I swear I'm so excited. And it's gonna be way better then Blogher because it will be nice ans cozy and intimate!

  13. 13

I'm glad overall it was good. I wasn't there so don't have a post on BlogHer but I did do a (humorous) post on missing out if you want to read that.

I'm glad to hear that you had a good time. Isn't it sad that there's drama where ever you go?! I've seen talk on other blogs about it, but no names mentioned, But dammit, I wanna know lol

    Chic Mommy USA

I so wanna make it next year! All your tales of such fun times and great new friendships make it all a fun expectation!
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
    Love your blog!

So utterly jealous.. sounds like a blast… but NY here I come.. hope to meet you IRL at BlogHer 10… I will be there!! ( and will be a newbie there myself so I can expect more pointers, ok?)

  17. 17

Toni I lover you and your honesty!

    ummm story to come? maybe…

  18. 18

I'm glad you enjoyed the panel – I was so nervous up there at first. I wasn't sure if my sense of humor would translate in that type of environment, but I'm glad it did.

  19. 19

KPG I did a great time met lots of wonderful people the positives greatly outweighed any negativity and that is what is important ๐Ÿ™‚

Momma Hen I tried to shine but I forgot my glitter at home heh, heh, no I did shine if I do say so myself, even if just for that one photo LOL.

Christie, I should have had much more time with you, so I have decided that we are going to vacation together sometime and have a tweet up with all my awesome friends.

Barefoot Mommies, I hope to see you there next year and really you are right no matter how much you tried to avoid it, drama will be there, so just like I did, we must choose not to react ๐Ÿ™‚ Can't wait to see you there.

Jenifer, thanks for the welcome back I missed my skype girls.

MrsC I am sure you will hear all sorts of stories, unfortunately they are not mine to tell and the tiny incident I had which I walked away from, I can assure you I was not going to have my time ruined, i am leaving it at bay :).

Melissa, I know i am bummed I fell asleep. What can I say I am definitely not a night person LOL

Miss Fiona you linked the wrong post LOL. I will head over to read yours shortly.

Katja, I sincerely enjoyed conversing with you. You are a real treat and such a genuine person. I hope this is the first of many events I will have the chance to attend with you.

    Aww my mimi thanks!!

Kim I hope you have a chance to go as well, it truly is a time to remember and learn from.

SoNot I can't wait for sitscation too! We are going to have a blast.

DDDIVA I will definitely be by to read that today ๐Ÿ™‚

Melissa, I shall name no names they don't deserve to have their name on my blog. In fact they really don't need to be mentioned by names on anyones blog, it's just a way to keep the fire fueled. I figure leave the names alone and the people that everyone are referring too will eventually show who they really are all on their own ๐Ÿ™‚

Chic Mommy I sincerely hope you get a chance to go, it truly is a wonderful experience overall.

Jenn I hope to be there right along with you ๐Ÿ™‚

Kristin, nope no story, they don't get the privileged of making it into my blog anymore than what I wrote in this post. They aren't worth it ๐Ÿ™‚

Avitable: OMGosh I think I shall faint now. You commented on my blog I totally feel like a rockstar. You did great by the way, and I love your sense of humor on your blog so I knew what to expect and loved every minute of the mens panel. However let's not tell me you are commenting on everyone's blog that has your name in it, I want to remain feeling like a rockstar LOL

Thanks so much for the kind words. I had a lot of fun and I'm really glad to hear you got a lot out of the panel. Looking forward to reading more of your blog!

    The Consumer Queen

Toni it was so great meeting you! You are such a wonderful person! Smart, beautiful and a great blogger! I had fun hanging out with you!

  23. 23

I didn't attend blogher and thank you for a more positive rendition of it. I have been reading so much negativity that it's making me nervous about next year. I would love to go but only if my people like you are there.

  24. 24
    La'Tonya Richardson

I'm glad you had a good time! I'm living Blogher thru those of you who went. I'm making plans to be there next year!

  25. 25

    What an amazing weekend…. ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. 26

I'm so flattered that you thought we were h… er, I mean funny.

I was kind of overwhelmed at the sense of camaraderie that I felt, not just up on stage with my mutually challenged panelists, but with the audience as well. It really solidified for me that male or female, we blog because we like to connect. Which is awesome.

  27. 27

Glad you had a good time! Maybe I'l make it to next year's — I'm on the wait list for Sitscation!
