A day at the beach is fun, but a day of thrilling slides, fun wave pools, and lazy floating may just have one up on a day at the beach. A few of my family members and myself were guest of Big Kahunas waterpark in Destin, Florida for a day of thrills and relaxation.
We love Big Kahunas and try to go at least once (or buy a season pass if we are going more) a year, because it’s just a place the kids love to go. With so much to choose from you have something for everyone.
You can float along the lazy river, let the wee ones play in the little kids area, thrill seekers have a few fast slides to choose from and of course there is the in between for those who want a little more adventure than the lazy river but not quite so much as the pitch black, free fall Jumanji.
Every time we go we head to the back “island” and park our stuff. There we have one of the two lazy rivers, honolulu half pipe (for kneeboarding), a kids play area, 4 slides and hours of fun. When you head up to the other side of the park, you pass another kids play area that has 3 slides and an octopus shooting water our in all directs. Once you arrive to the front of the park you have the wave pool, another kids area, the second lazy river, a deeper pool for swimming, and 13 slides that range from fun to thrilling. Probably my favorite in the whole park is Tiki River Run.
Check out this video I made during our trip so you can see some of the slides first hand:
After some time playing in the water, head to the food area where you have pizza, sandwiches, chicken, salads, and so much more to choose from. However, if you prefer to not have to carry your own food, rent a cabana ($99) and you have a personal waiter to attend to your needs the whole day (I am going to do this one day). Big Kahunas also offers lockers to store your possessions so you don’t have to worry about toting around your camera, phone, etc all day long.
Not only does Big Kahunas offer the water park area, but they also have an adventure park that includes mini-golf, go karts, the sky-coaster, and the cyclone (for huge adventure seekers I might add). So, after a day in the water or if you just want some fun that doesn’t include getting wet be sure to check out the adventure park Big Kahunas offers.

This place looks like a blast!
I would take my cousins! Looks like a fun water park!
Looks like a lot of fun
Wow, that looks like a fun one. We don’t have much of anything like that around here in Oregon.
Your post is looking great due to the snapshots of that water park. Everyone love to go to water parks for their vacation. By playing those water games we can get more relaxation. After going through your blog I’ve a plan to visit this place very soon. Thanks for sharing such an informative post for us.
