Being Prepared For The What If’s.

This is our very first home. We had been married for almost 8 years when we became first time home owners. With that came a whole new set of responsibilities and preparations for the “what if’s”. Being a first time home buy we did not want to leave any stone unturned and wanted to make sure we were covered in case something happened. Living in Florida there is always the worry of seeing something like this on your news channel from June-November:

You can only do so much to prepare your home for a hurricane. It’s really left up to chance if it is still standing when you return from evacuating (should it be a hurricane that requires that). That’s where home mortgage insurance comes into play. It’s a safety net I don’t want to think about having to use, but one I am glad is there for that “just in case”.

That is just one type of home mortgage insurance, but have you ever thought of what would happen if you have job loss or a sickness that takes you out of work. Which is what happened to us.  Right after we closed on our home my husband was let go from his job.  Talk about a moment of break down.  We were lucky that we had my husbands 401K to help us when he looked for a job, if we hadn’t we would have been in some serious trouble, which has us now looking into something lik Home Mortgage Payment Protection.

Home Mortgage Payment Protection is simply another safety net for the just in case. We all think just in case’s won’t happen to us but if they do we need to be prepared. Home Mortgage Payment Protection would help cover your mortgage in instances mentioned above. If the unthinkable happened how would you pay your mortgage, bills, etc. This is why home mortgage payment protection is something to consider along with your regular mortgage insurance. The “what if’s” can happen and don’t you want to be prepared if they do?

Does your family have anything like this in place?  Or have you ever had to use anything like this for the what if?

It’s always best to be protected because you just never know what’s gonna happen.

  2. 2

We don’t have this type of protection but I think it is a good idea to look into it. You never know what can happen! Thanks for sharing.

I know first hand what it feels like to lose your home and still have to pay the mortgage while paying the cost of staying in a hotel room for weeks on end! Protection is definitely a good idea!

    I can’t even imagine!

I get so scared during hurricane season, but at least we have insurance.

  6. 6

We are looking into it this year — we live in a hurricane prone area so it’s definitely something worth checking out for us!

  7. 7

Definitely worth checking out! Living in a hurricane area is scary stuff!
