When I say I love to bake, I am not exaggerating. I love everything about baking from the mixing of the ingredients, to the smell of the chosen treat, and of course the biting into the tastiness when the project is complete. Unfortunately for me my love of baking was put on hold for about 6 months since our oven died and we have yet to replace it. Then the baking angels looked down on me and smiled through Mom Central and I got asked to be part of the Babycakes tour. I had to decide whether I wanted to go the mini cupcake, mini donut or cake pop route … I chose cupcakes.
The packaged arrived and I was giddy and ready to jump into it. Included in the box was the pink (oh yes I said pink and loved every minute of it)mini cupcake maker itself, an icing bag, decorating tips, recipe book and crust too. I started right in reading what all I could do with my new friend and learned it’s not just for cupcakes but also pie, fruit tarts, brownies and even empanadas!!! This is one awesome gadget, especially when you are missing an oven. I didn’t have all the ingredients on hand to make my cake mix from scratch this time and didn’t feel like running to the store, so I grabbed one of the boxes of mix I have on hand and got to work.
I cleaned my babycakes cupcake maker before the first use, grabbed my cake mix and ingredients and mixed my little heart away.
Then, after preheating of course, I filled each little cupcake area with 2 Tbsp of the batter, cooked about 5 minutes (this may differ for you) and VOILA perfect little cupcakes. I used a butter knife to slide them out and let them cool. I didn’t use cupcake baking cups so there was a little stuck to the bottom but it came out simply when I rinsed it. I do think something you could squeeze the batter with would work a little better because with the tbsp the first ones start cooking through before you finish, though it didn’t affect the taste. I love that I can now get back to baking with the Babycakes cupcake maker and fully intend on getting their other products when it’s possible for me. Cake Pops are next on my list.
Tonight I will be trying their empanada recipe and am so excited to see how these turn out. Don’t forget to check out the accessories they have available as well. If you want your own head over and check them out. Available in red, yellow, pink and blue and priced at $29.99 they are affordable fun for the whole family! Oh and to show you the completely finished product….
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Babycakes we received a complimentary Babycakes treat appliance and gift card to thank us for taking the time to participate.
