YourSphere: Creating The Profile

As you know from my previous posts I am one of the test drive moms for Yoursphere, a kids social networking site.  My kids obviously are being brought up around social media so it’s only normal they are curious.  With YourSphere they can have their own network of friends.  Before I get started into building a profile for or with your child if you want to get your child signed up head on over and use the code YSMC-0029.

Now I mentioned in my previous post you have ultimate control over what your child does because you can see everything in the Parent Dashboard.  Even though we can see what is going on and what they are doing I still think it’s important to be there when they are setting up their profile to make sure they understand what they are entering and to of course make sure they are not putting anything inappropriate up.

After you have activated their name in your parent dashboard get read to help them set up their profile to their little hearts content. They will first need to pick an account name and password as well as some hint questions in case they forget their password. After getting their name and password chosen (which can take a bit of time if the pick a name that is already taken), then it’s time to upload a picture.  My child tends to use those of his favorite actors or singers LOL.

Next up it’s time to share a little bit about themselves with fellow Yoursphere peeps.  Answering the following: Status (mine has School’s Out for summer right now), music, movies, likes, heroes (an aww moment real quick he has his father and I as his heroes), dislikes, books, full details and playlist.com music list.  The kids truly make their page their own and share details so others can get to know them without getting too personal.

It gives them a sense of networking all the while keeping their information safe.  Along with the parent dashboard so parents can keep an eye on what their child is doing, Yoursphere seems to be the answer for those of us who have children aching to have a facebook page of their own.  Well now they can in their own little world.

Disclaimer: I wrote this review while participating in the Yoursphere Test Drive program by Mom Central on behalf of Yoursphere. I received a free lifetime Gold membership on Yoursphere.com, Yoursphere t-shirts, and a $50 American Express gift card to facilitate my review.
