My favorite Christmas memories of when my son was little. First because he was born in December after we had been trying for four years so that was memorable.. Then as a toddler seeing the wonder on his face when he first saw the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. Then as he got older and got excited about his wish list. Now I have got to experience the joy of children at Christmas again with my granddaughter. I love Christmas.

    Carolann Leibenguth

My favorite Christmas memory is when my son was two it was the first year he really had fun. He had so much fun ripping paper he didn’t even care about what was inside the package and then the dog got in on it and it was just a flurry of paper.

  61. 61

When I was about 5 or 6, I woke up extra early to look under the tree on Christmas morning, and I saw elves in the tree!!

  62. 62

My favorite holiday memory is also one of my funniest memories. My oldest son’s birthday is December 24th. On his birthday we always visited my in-laws and had a birthday/Christmas celebration. It was my responsibility to bring the cake, and I brought one from Baskin-Robbins: an ice cream cake. So we had our festivities, packed up the car with all our goodies and headed home. The next morning I asked my husband where the cake was, as I had looked in the freezer and it wasn’t there. I KNEW I had removed it from my mother-in-law’s freezer to bring it home the night before. My husband went out to look in the car to see if it was still in there (which would have been OK because we lived in a cold climate state), but it wasn’t there. After much searching, we finally found it in all its melted gooey glory amongst the rest of the gifts under the Christmas Tree!!

  65. 65

My mother’s love of the Christmas season. She started decorating in late October and gradually put her decorations out. On Christmas morning, she couldn’t wait to wake us up so we could all open out presents. In good years or extremely lean years her love of Christmas morning never changed.

  66. 66

My favorite holiday memory was when my oldest had her first Christmas – she was just 2 weeks old and dressing her in a santa suit and seeing the joy on the family’s face – it was priceless

  67. 67

My favorite Christmas memory is when my sister and I were young and the excitement we shared when opening up our gifts.

  68. 68

I have a horrible memory and don’t remember too much of when I was younger. I do remember when I got my first guitar. My parents had put the actual guitar behind the couch and put a plastic ukelele in the guitar box so when I opened it, it was a huge disappointment.

  69. 69

  92. 92

One of my favorite memories is when I was younger and we got our tree by cutting it down and carrying it home by ourselves.

  93. 93

One of my favorite Christmas memories was going out with my family to see a local Christmas light display. The homeowner made his own decorations. He had a Santa that was as big as his house. It was amazing.

  94. 94

Christmas Eve was always special when my parents were alive.

  95. 95

My favorite Christmas memories are the times spent with my grandparents. All holidays were joyous affairs, especially Christmas. They’ve been gone for many years, and in the meantime, I’ve raised a family of my own. I try to be the same type of grandmother that mine was to me.

  96. 96

My favorite memory is putting a gold bird ornament in honor of my grandma that passed away.

  97. 97
    MaryJo Tsitouris

  129. 129

    Spending time with my family.

  130. 130

It would be hard to pinpoint just one, as I have a lot of great holiday memories, but when I was a little kid, my grandma was still able-bodied enough to make sugar cookies. We’d roll them out, choose from a huge collection of her metal cookie cutters, and decorate them with the contents of a big box full of sprinkles, jimmies, and sugars in just about every color in the rainbow. It was always so much fun, because creativity was never limited by what wasn’t on hand. My mom and I carry on the tradition to this day, though it’s never quite as magical as it was when I was five-years-old.

  131. 131

My favorite Christmas’ would be both of my children’s first Christmas!

  132. 132

I guess a favorite is the year it was -25 in Chicago, not wind chill, actual temperature. I thought oh heavens where have I moved to. I had 2 toddlers, 2 cars that wouldn’t start and I thought we would never get warm.

  138. 138

  139. 139

We used to go to our grandparent’s house every Christmas Eve. We would eat good food, play loud games, and open presents. It was fantastic!

  140. 140

My mom loved to mess with us kids. She’d put the wrong name on a tag (a sort of code) or write only #s on them. Several times, we found the “key”. One year, she had no idea whose was whose. She gave me a gift with #1 on it. My younger sister piped up “Hey, that’s MY present….hers are #3.” Mom didn’t know whether to be mad or pleased.

  147. 147

My favorite Christmas memories involved getting a new puppy right before Christmas!!!

  148. 148

My favorite Christmas memories are seeing my children excited every Christmas morning!

  149. 149

My favorite memory of Christmas was on Christmas eve every year my older sister and i would always make a pact that whoever was awake first had to wake the other (at this time there were 2 of us only) on Christmas morning so we could try to sneak into the basement where my parents kept the presents from “Santa”. We made such die hard serious oaths to each other (not to be broken, cross your heart and hope to die! ) on dire things like our beloved stuffed animals that the one awake first could not go peeking without the one still sleeping. I remember how long those Christmas eve nights felt. We were always up before the sun, my poor parents lol! Those are feelings i miss so much being a grown up. But what great memories to cherish!

  150. 150

My favorite memory is the first Christmas I spent with my birth daughter and her family.
    thank you

  151. 151

Well there have been many so I’m not sure what my favorite would be. I guess one memory is when I worked in a group home and the kids that had parents would go home with them for each holiday. There were a few kids that didn’t have parents to we, as the staff were allowed to take one of them home to our familiy at Christmas. I was able to do this for 3 years and each time it was so nice to see the kids have a happy holiday. 🙂

My favorite holiday memory is making cookies with my mom-mom and great grandma as a child. As a child of abusive parents, my mom-mom’s house was also my safe house. Of all the cooking and baking we do, Christmas cookies were my favorite memories. We made dozens to make platters to take to elderly neighbors, her coworkers, and family functions. The house smelled so good. I’ve continued this tradition with my daughters for past 25 years.

Thank you for the chance to win your generous gift basket! Have a joyous Holiday Season!

My favorite holiday memory is when I was a little girl, we were staying at my Great Aunts house. My Dad had me for Christmas (my parents were divorced), and I was about 5 years old. I was so afraid Santa wasn;t going to find me at Aunt Marg’s house. During the night, I heard a loud thump and got excited that Santa had landed on the roof. I heard rumbling around so I made myself go back to sleep, and of course presents were there in the morning, and I had to share my exciting night with my Dad. Needless to say, we really laugh about this now. My aunt had a little too much to drink and had ran into the cabinet in her bathroom. The sound was great for a 5 year old expecting Santa!

When I was in elementary school I would go with my cousins and my sister to my Grandma’s church for their annual Holiday Night. I don’t remember what they actually called it but Holiday Night sounds good. Us kids would go from room to room making different Christmas Ornaments! I still have some: a Styrofoam plate angel, a beaded tree or wreath, a cotton ball snowman and such! Some of the ornaments have held together really well over the past 10 to 15 years! We would also sing Christmas Carols and hang up strands of Cranberries & Popcorn up on the trees outside the church! I believe we were also given a Christmas Present like a book or a small toy! It was something I looked forward to every year! Now I look back & smile and hope there are programs like that around when I have children!
