What Verizon Lacks That Makes iPhone Worth Having

As I mentioned yesterday, Verizon is FINALLY getting access to the iPhone so now they can have happy customers like us AT&T folks.  While they will have the bragging rights of less dropped calls there are two things lacking that really are what make the iPhone worth having.

The speed, as proven AT&T has the faster 3G network and in some areas it’s a whole lot faster.  Now while this wouldn’t necessarily be a huge deal breaker for me the next one would.

On Verizon’s first version of the iPhone (not to say later this won’t be fixed) you will not be able to talk and surf the web at the same time.  Only AT&T can do that, though Verizon does hope to have this fixed by the end of the year.

It may not matter to some of you folks out there who are so excited to have the iPhone but to those of us seasoned users like myself, I like being able to be on my speaker phone and have web access at the same time.  It’s come in handy quite often when someone calls me needing an address, number or even a definition of the word.

A few things to keep in mind before jumping right in and getting the iPhone when it’s released in February 2011.  Oh and AT&T will possibly be releasing the iPhone 5 summer 2011.  So…..

Great points, Toni. I had Verizon for my home phone service in DE, and it was the worst customer service experience I have ever had with any company. Most of the time, their customer service lines were out of order. When they worked, they were still not helpful. My experience was so bad, when I moved to FL and found that Verizon was the only home phone option in my area, I decided not to install home phones. That was when we went cell-only, in 2005. I’ve had Cingular/ATT cell service for ten years now, and I’ve never had a serious problem.

I had no idea Verizon’s phone won’t allow you to surf and talk at the same time. I don’t usually do that anyway because I suck at multi-tasking, but if we’re looking up movie times while hubby is at work and don’t wanna hang up, it comes in handy.

What about being able to text while talking??

What a I talking about. It doesn’t even MATTER b/c I’m WITH AT&T now. lol ………… did you say iPhone 5?
