Taking To The Road In The 2014 Toyota Sienna #SiennaDiaries

For Thanksgiving, this year, we were taking to the roads.  I hadn’t seen my grandparents in about 2 years and it was long overdue for a trip there.  This was going to be the first time “Sienna” really took to the road.  I have to say upfront, that traveling in the 2014 Toyota Sienna, was pure awesomeness. I’ll be highlighting trunk in a later post, because for this trip we really didn’t take much…see…

As a mom, it can get pretty tiresome always turning around to check on the kids, thanks to the conversation mirror with sunglass holder, I can keep an eye on them and chat with them during our travels without turning around.  Because I know every person out there has turned around at least once when they are driving, yes myself included, and this will help you not have to do that.  The fact that it’s a sunglasses holder, as well, is icing on the cake because I can’t tell you how many times I have left the house without sunglasses.  Now I just put them in the holder when I get out of the van, and they are right there waiting when I get back.

Next up lets talk about the navigation system.  This is an option you can add on, but it’s awesome for us.  It does more than get us from point A to point B.

Car Navigation

Breaking down the trip into total miles and then having a miles until next turn is great.  It gives you an idea of when you are going to arrive to your destination with the hour countdown and you don’t have to worry about switching back and forth to different screens.  It’s all right there on one screen. You simply put in your destination and pick the route you want to take (scenic, shortest, or fastest).  Then drive along and let route guidance….well, guide you.  What I love about this system is the safety feature, while you are driving it will not let you mess with the navigation manually.  It’s to ensure your eyes and hands are focused on getting you to your destination safely, not trying to input something, which would be the same as texting and driving, honestly.

While we are on the subject of safety, a few things that are standard in all models, not just the Limited that I am driving:

  • Tire pressure monitor system
  • 3-point seatbelts in all seating positions with adjustable seatbelt anchors on front and second row seats, drivers seatbelt Emergency Locking Retracto, and automatic looking retractors on all other seatbelts
  • Front seatbelts with pretenstioners & force limiters
  • Driver & front passenger seatbelt warning system, in case you forget to buckle.
  • Airbags: Driver & front passenger have advanced airbag system and seat-mounted side airbags, driver knee airbag, 3-row side curtain airbags.
  • CRS LATCH (lower anchors and tethers for children)
  • Child Protector sliding door locks (all models).  Also the sliding doors have jam protector functions with auto-reverse on power sliding doors (LE, XLE, Limited only)

There are so many great safety features, I will try to touch on a few more in coming posts, but back to why I love traveling in the 2014 Toyota Sienna Limited.

Dual control AC

It never fails that one of us is always hot, then another cold.  Thanks to the tri-zone CFC-free automatic climate control system with air filter, and rear control panel, we can all be happy.  The driver and passenger, as you can see above, can set their temperature to their liking, if it’s still too cold, turn on the heated seat!  Those in the back can control the degrees for back there.  While the back air vents all share one temperature, the vents can be closed so those who are too cold or too hot, still have options.  Seriously, this is better than my home heat and AC.

Sienna 2014

With room for 7 and having 5 of us, there is plenty of space during our travels.  Not to mention every seat, yes even the third row, which is awesome, reclines with the touch of a button.   Even the drivers seat reclines, so if you are traveling and need to pull over for a nap, all is good.  My kids love that the middle and third row recline because it makes watching videos easier.   We took to the road and had a blast driving to Alabama, for Thanksgiving, I have to say I have the best chauffeur ever..

He got us where we needed to go, while Sienna led the way….

Travel

We had a great Thanksgiving with family, Italian style, and the trip home was just as relaxing.  The ride was smooth, the gas mileage was great, and the kids were entertained.  Don’t worry, my next post will be about long road trips (8 hours or more) and how the entertainment in the 2014 Toyota Sienna is a sanity saver.  You’ll have to check back for that next week.

Also, for the next few weekends I am going to do a post series “The Daily Life of Sienna” and highlight the adventures Sienna went on each day!  So keep watch for that come Saturday or Sunday!  Until next time, keep on driving.  You think you know what happens in a 2014 Toyota Sienna Limited, but you have no idea…these are the Sienna Diaries!

I had a Honda Odyssey before my current vehicle. The Sienna sounds just like the Odyssey. The room alone makes it perfect for families.
