When you think of heading to Orlando, chances are you think of making it a fun family affair, meaning lots of kid themed fun. Well, Orlando offers just as much fun for us adults. That’s exactly what the facing fears together trip, was meant to highlight. While CityWalk is great for kids, if you are like us, you always go down with family and are rushed to keep going and doing what the kids want. So, it was super great to be able to enjoy CityWalk as part of this adults only getaway!
One of my favorite things to do on CityWalk (even though kids love it too) is to play mini-golf on one of two themed courses at Hollywood Drive-In Golf. Especially at night when all the lights are one. You can have an out of body experience on the space course or get the heebie-jeebies on the haunted course. Of the two, the haunted is definitely my favorite. It’s a totally different experience without kids than with.
One of the best parts about this trip, was being able to really sit and enjoy the food. Unlike the trips with kids, I was able to truly take my time, take in the atmosphere when we had dinner at Antojitos, and enjoy the deliciousness of the flavors of the food offered. With fresh ingredients, guacamole is made right at your table, you can get it spicy or mild, I loved it both ways! Everyone ordered something different and from appetizers, to the meal, to dessert (even the drinks) and I didn’t see an unhappy face anywhere.
The atmosphere is awesome. With a live Mariachi band, who play top 40 hits, you will be thisclose to jumping up and dancing. Definitely a must dine, when you are near CityWalk.
Of course with the CityWalk expansion, there are many more restaurants to choose from. For a quick snack check out Cold Stone Creamery or Hot Dog Hall of Fame. Craving Italian, VIVO, has got you covered. I, for one, am really looking forward to The CowFish opening, I’ll have to make a special trip back for that!
I didn’t have a chance to check out the nightlife on this trip…hey organizing this thing and being a part of it wore this girl out, but it was so full of memories I’ll take the tiredness! However, for those who are not too tired, CityWalk offers great night life. So, when the parks close and you are still raring to go…just take a short walk to CityWalk (or go back to your hotel to change first) and get ready for some fun. Check out the dueling pianos at Pat O’ Brians, take part in Karaoke at The Rising Star, or even put your dancing shoes on for some booty bumping at The Groove! Whether you are looking for a chill atmosphere or one that is a bit more upbeat, CityWalk has something that will fit your late night tastes!
Of course, sometimes a show is what is calling your name. In that case you will want to check out The Blue Man Group. This show, while I didn’t see it on this particular trip, is AMAZING. Watching these blue people have fun with paint, food, music and so much more is pretty darn exciting. There wasn’t a second during this show that I was bored. It is truly an awesome experience that given the chance, you should check out. Be ready for some booty shaking, paint spraying and chubby bunny filled moments
Last, but certainly not least, is the shopping. If you want to pick up something for yourself (or the kids you left at home for this trip) be sure to check out the shopping offered at Universal CityWalk. There are stand alone stores like The Universal Studios Store and then restaurants like Margaritaville (which has great buffalo wings by the way) have shops sporting their products.
Whether you want to catch a movie, grab a bit, or shop the day away, CityWalk is definitely the place to be able to do it all. Have you ever been to Universal Orlando CityWalk?
