Now I never claimed to be Betty Crocker, though I will say I can make some pretty tasty cupcakes…then again anything with frosting on it is bound to taste good right? However I will brag on a skill only I have, that’s right no one else has this skill. Okay so that’s pushing it but I can make a mean salsa.
Today I have been whrrling my salsa story and tweeting pictures of the after product and have had several requests for the recipe. So here I am posting it for you all, though as I type this out I wonder if I should charge for it, you would pay good money to get this tasty salsa anywhere else…oh well. However since I like to share I will pass it along for free, that’s how much I love you all!
Salsa Recipe other wise knows as Toni’s Kick Butt Salsa:
- 4 cans petite diced tomatoes (or you can use fresh if you prefer)
- 2 green bell peppers
- 4 jalapeno’s (we seed ours to make it less spicy for the kids)
- 2 bunches cilantro
- 6 cloves garlic (we like garlic so we add more)
- 1 red onion
- 4 packets (8 come in one box) Sazon Goya: Con culantro y achiote seasoning (usually in the latin section)
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Pour tomatoes into bowl (do not drain)
- Using food processor, process all the fresh veggies and add to tomatoes
- Once all veggies are added, pour Goya seasoning, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper over the veggies and mix well
- You can let sit to let flavors blend but I always eat it right then, what can I say I work up an appetite.
Now go forth and enjoy the yummy salsa, at least this is one snack that is pretty good for you, lots of fresh veggies. It’s a guilt free snack, well minus the chips that may not be the healthiest thing.
Who cares, it’s yummy!! And if you need to feel less guilty, get organic or baked chips. Capeesh!

My answer to my question on twitter would be…FOOD! But really, I wanted to see you bust a Salsa move! Hee hee. Looks great…I’m positive I would find a way to screw it up but…hey…it’s the thought that counts! 🙂

I’m going to give this a whrll too. lol. I usually only make salsa in the summer when the tomatoes are fresh but this looks wonderful. What exactly is “Sazon Goya”? Can you find it at WalMart and if not what would be a good substitute?
We make our salsa too. We use everything from are garden. Only draw back is our house smells like salsa for a week. Our neighbor planted what she calls a salsa garden and she only planted the items to make salsa with.
This looks so yummy and fresh! Can’t wait to try it.

That looks SO good! I’ve never made salsa of my own. I always bought it in jars. You can definitely brag about something if it’s your own creation. Goya is a great brand!
