Murphy USA: A Company Who Understands Moving Forward

Photo from Murphy USA FacebookCurrently with 1060 stores and looking to have a many more added to that next ten years, Murphy USA is a company who gets the importance of social media. Recently I had the amazing opportunity to meet with Murphy USA alongside Collective Bias.  I was absolutely amazed at this companies desire to get involved in the social media world.

Today more and more companies are jumping into social media.  Whether it’s meeting with bloggers or consulting with those of us who know have the “know how” in social media they take an interest.  However there is one problem that I have noticed with most companies, after that initial meeting they give up, don’t follow up or just very simply put don’t move forward.  In a world that is gravitating more and more toward social media that’s not going to cut it.

With Murphy USA they were curious, anxious to learn, share ideas and hear ours.  Ready to move forward with the social media revolution Murphy USA is already so many steps ahead of others.  It’s about desire, ideas, working together, a continued relationship, listening, and trust.

While at Murphy USA I had a wonderful time learning about the company, how they have come to be a company they are, hear their ideas and share some on what they can do.  Sitting in with John, Brad, Monica & Jay from Collective Bias I realized that companies who really want to get into social media know the importance of moving forward and working with a community of people who can help them reach their current goals and aim for the stars.

Whether it’s having a candy debate between employees that will spark something fun in the social world or talking about how to integrate something new to their site, Murphy USA was a company that was business focused, fun, and ready to learn how to make social media a bigger part of their picture.  Murphy USA has a great website with a store locator, information about the company, merchandise and more.

They also  have a facebook fan page where the first 100,000 fans get a free Coca-Cola coupon just for liking them (click the Free Coke tab on their fan page).  You can follow Murphy USA on twitter or download their free app.  With the app, you can find the nearest Murphy USA, see competitors prices and get special offers available only to app holders.

Learning so much I never knew about a company that I already loved helped me to understand so much more Murphy USA. Murphy USA already had 5 stars in my book for convenience and money saving at fill up time.  After meeting with them they have another 5 star rating for their work ethics, willingness to listen, desire to learn and continuing relationships they started.  I guess that gives them a 10 Star rating one that which they have truly earned.  With amazing growth as a company that is able to save people money, Murphy USA is doing it right.  Getting involved in social media is the first step but to truly be successful you have to want to stay involved.  Some companies just don’t get that but Murphy USA DOES!
