Mothers Day Gift Idea & Giveaway: Vado Pocket Camcorder

Contest is closed winner announced tonight (5/11/09)
Our second Mothers Day Gift Idea here on A Daily Dose is this beauty:

Creative has offered to giveaway a pink vado to one of my readers. As you may now a while back I had the chance to review the Vado. Read all about how Vado stole my heart from Flip here.

This is definitely a gift idea any mother would love. A small little camcorder than she can tote with her anywhere she goes. She will never have to miss out on another opportunity to catch that memory. Small with dimensions of 3.9″ x 2.2″ x 0.6″ this is one camcorder she can take anywhere. With recording times of 60 or 120 minutes she is sure to have enough time to capture all the memories she wants before having to upload. Make your mom smile this Mother’s day with a Vado of her own.

To enter to win the Vado:
Leave a comment with a memory you have that you wish you would have had the Vado to capture.

That’s all you have to do. Please remember that this must be done in order for any extra entry to count!

For Extra Entries you can:
1) Follow my blog through a reader or blogger.
2) Blog about this contest with a link back to this post.
3) Tweet about this contest up to twice daily (please leave the tweet link in your comment)
4) Become a Fan of Vado on Facebook.
5) Follow me on Twitter to keep up with the latest happenings here @totally_toni.
6) Follow @CreativeLabs on twitter to keep up with Vado information.
7) Stumble, Digg, Technorati fave, etc this post and leave your user name in the comment.

This is such a wonderful Giveaway!!
My Precious Mom passed away 2 years ago, and EVERY memory of her is SWEET! I wish I had captured so many everyday simple things of her in video. One for instance is her baking cookies. I know it is silly, but even the sound of her voice. Oh don’t get me started. Now my keyboard has salty tears on it! Shoot. I miss her so much. Anyway. It would have been so nice to have THOSE kind of memories saved so I could reflect back and have that forever!!!

  33. 33

when my oldest was born back in 1987 video cameras were just starting to come out. being a single parent, i couldn’t afford one. i wish i had been able to record the first time my son talked, walked, and all the other funny little things he used to do. if you’d ask him how grandpa walks he’d bend over and pretend he had a cane and walk all slow and old LOL my dad was only 42 at the time and didn’t walk like that at all! it was so funny, because you never knew where he got that from. there was also the time some lady asked him at the grocery store what his name was, and he turned to her, cocked up an eyebrow, with arms crossed, head a bit down, and said with all seriousness “bond, james bond” lol that cracks me up to this day. 🙂

So, the memory I would have wanted on video was of my oldest dd when she was about 4. We went to Sea World in Orlando and she was chosen to sit on Shamu during the show. It was really cool and we have great pictures and all but on video it would have been so much better. Now that she’s 18 I miss those little girl fun times.

  85. 85

I would have LOVED to have had my oldest daughter’s first day at ballet rehearsal for the recital. I had no idea she would love the stage and just light up when she was up there. I also would have loved her first hit at T-ball and her first time in the water and . . . Gosh I think I could go on forever between my two girls “firsts”. Thanks!

My daughter was never very athletic but we signed her up to play softball. She was the little girl who ran off the field in the middle of the game because she had to use the bathroom. She rarely caught the ball (it scared her) and hitting wasn’t her forte. The last game of the season she was up to bat last. Of course everyone thought the game was over then. She shocked everyone by hitting the ball and bringing in two runs to win the game. They gave her the game ball that all her teammates signed. I wish I could have captured that whole last inning on tape and the look on her face when they handed her the ball.

My one year old daughter has a funny dance that looks like a cross between the chicken and disco. All I have to say is “dance” and she does. Walking through the mall we passed Holister and they had music playing so I yelled “dance” and she stopped and started to boogie. It was really funny in front of the sales people and their naked torsos out front.

My daughter was born 13 weeks premature. Things were so stressful and exhausting. While at the time, I had a video camera, it was one of the big ones. I would haul it to the hospital, but it would wind up in my locker. Sadly, my daughter passed away at 6 weeks. Going back and looking at the video that I did have, I had a whole 2 minutes. It makes me sad that even though I was with her every day, that is all that I have. If I had had a Vado, I could have kept it in my pocket and used it every day.

Wow, there are so many memories that I wished my husband and I had been able to capture! Without sounding cliche, it had to be when our middle daughter took her first step! It happened so spontaneously and without any thought that it was coming, and it took us by total surprise because we didn’t think she was at that stage yet, she walked much earlier than “normal”! We did take “pictures” of her walking in the days to follow, but I wished we had been able to capture those initial, glorious moments! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter!

I entered a local radio contest and won a trip for two to Salzburg, Austria so my wife and I went the week of our wedding anniversary. We’d never been to Europe before as we don’t have much money and just can’t afford it. We mostly ate as cheaply as we could while we were there but we went to a fairly nice place for the night of our anniversary. As we were walking back to our hotel we noticed that the sky had lit up ahead of us. We stopped and watched a beautiful fireworks display. As we were about a half-mile away from the place where it was being set off there were no people around us and the streets were virtually deserted, it being a weeknight. It felt like our own private anniversary fireworks show. When we got back to the hotel we asked the desk clerk if they do that every night and she told us it was only that one night as part of a festival in the aldstadt. I wish I could look at that moment on video as it was very special to us.

  304. 304

wish I would have had one when my daughter graduated high school

  305. 305

We have never owned a video camera, so there would be a LOT of “I wish I had’s…” Most recently, my son’s college graduation. Before that, my mom’s face when she walked into her 70th bday (surprise) party and realized it was for HER and not the people we told her it was for. You get the picture!

  374. 374

i wish i could have videos of my kids when they were first walking.

  375. 375

I’m the oldest of four girls, and the first two are no longer living at home – the second two recently moved to CO with my folks. Now we only get to “all” be under the same roof a few times a year but we always have so much fun. I would love to have the Vado at our Christmas visit or when we all went to the beach last summer. Everybody’s growing up so quickly! I cherish the moments we all have together.

  376. 376

I wish I had recorded Derrick when he had his hair in a pony tail singing “I feel sexy”

  377. 377

We vacation at the beach quite often and my husband and kids often have surf/boarding competititons with the uncles/cousins. I would love to have had some of these on film as they are quite comical.

Years ago we went on a trip to Italy. We had 1 1/2 days to spend in Venice. We took a water taxi (everything is on water) that went all around the island. I had only taken a still camera with me. And until this day I regret that I didn’t have a video camera to capture the trip on the boat. I have some nice still shots, but no moving pictures. Some day I hope to go back….

Christina – xristya@rock.com – When I was little and we were vacationing on a resort island, my father showed me a meadowlark nest. There was a storm that night and the next day the mother and three of the babies were dead, but one remained, peeping loudly. My father showed me how to feed it (he knew a lot about wild animals and birds) and it imprinted on me (thinking I was its mother) and went everywhere on my shoulder (I was about ten years old). My father even let me take it back to the city! I felt SO special – but back then people didn’t have camcorders to record these events, and I just have a photo with a teeny bird – from far away – sitting on my little brother’s shoulder to mark the event! Life can be unexpectedly wonderful sometimes and camcorders like this one would keep the memory, in full detail, forever!

I wish I could have saved video of my oldest son’s cat. He’s now 27 and has had a rough last couple of years .. his cat was like his baby. He was the only person who Spike (his kitten) would let pick up. My boy could pick his kitten up and cradle him in his arms like a baby, and the cat would go from rambunctious to asleep in a matter of seconds. Unfortunately, the cat was killed by a car when my son was in the hospital. I cried for days over the cat … and it broke my heart to see my grown-up son cry because his baby was gone. Never underestimate the value of having a camera around! Spike was an “angel in a cat-suit” R.I.P.

When Iadopted my first cat I went to the SPCA. My mother accompanied me. There was a large room with 30 kittens. The SPCA employee went inside the room and asked us which ktiten we would like to see. I pointed to a pretty grey/brown tabby with huge ears. He brought her out. He immeidately placed her in my mother’s arms. She dug her needle sharp claws into my mother’s pretty, delicate shirt. When she tried to pull the kitten away, the kitten’s claws were still stuck in my mother’s shirt. The SPCA employee said she should just pull the kiten away, not paying attention to what was happening. It was funny.

The end result. We adopted her. Her name became Amy. Amy was not sweetpea for 18 years 🙂

So many memories I’ve missed but one stands out, we went to visit “Nana” and “Poppa” for Christmas (they live 600 miles away). My dad had bought a tree and stuck it in the ground out back and he took the kids out to find the perfect tree, and there it was. He pretended to cut it down. The kids were thrilled and just then (it rarely snows there) giant fluffly snowflakes started to fall, it was just too perfect. I have a polaroid pic of this event. We have since then lost our Poppa and my heart aches every day for him (sniffle!)

My son in laws reinactment of MC Hammer “Can’t touch this” at my daughter’s wedding. He is such a shy guy and was always quiet and reserved. The only dancing we expected from him was the first dance and then him sitting out. When our daughter requested an MC Hammer song for him suddenly he broke out into this choreographed dance from his childhood. Amazingly no one at this time had a video camera trained on his and so it has become something of a family legend.

It’s hard to pinpoint just one occasion when Vado would come very handy! Ok, let’s see…in March we went whale watching and although we didn’t see much of whales we had luck to see hundreds of dolphins that swam with our boat jumping and almost putting a show for us, it was really a site to see and capture, BUT we forgot to bring the big camera ughhh 🙁

My grandfather took us on a dream vacation to Disney World which is my dream fantasy job and place to get married. He wasn’t doing well health wise, so he took us with him. We were walking through Magic Kingdom and we stopped to look at the castle. He stopped me and asked me what my one wish was to happen at Disney. I told him I wanted to get married here under the castle. He hugged me, and told me that he would do everything in his power to make it happen, then pulled out a ring I designed for my grandmother when I was 12 years old. He gave it to me as a reminder to keep my dreams set, and also a reminder that he would keep his promise. He died a week later.

When my kitten Kali was about 8 weeks old (I found her stranded at 5 weeks), she went through a phase where she played really rough. She’d grab my hand and start kicking and biting. I had a stuffed caterpillar that was about her size, so I’d carefully extract my hand and give her the caterpillar to beat up on. She would go berserk, rolling and tumbling, biting and kicking. She even rolled right off the bed one time and a few seconds later, she hopped back up, carrying this “huge” stuffed caterpillar in her mouth, and then she started in fighting with it again. I so wish I had that on video. It was hilarious (and a little scary).

I wish I had video of my kids when they were babies, didn’t have a camcorder!

  749. 749

I wish we could have captured a video of the first time we saw our twins on ultrasound. One punched the other right in the head when we caught our first glimpse. We weren’t even able to get ultrasound pics then.

I wish I had had a camcorder to tape my mom’s retirement party.

  764. 764

We gave my mom a laptop for Christmas but saved it out for last and then put it in a Macy’s robe box (we had gotten robes for everyone but her as she did not like big heavy robes)and you could see her put on her I will be polite and excited and happy if it kills me face.
Then she had to keep opening and closing the box to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating.
    It was priceless.

  765. 765

I really wish I would have been able to get my daughters first time riding a bike on video, it was quite possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen! Thanks for the great giveaway!! hawkgirl_16 {at} hotmail {dot} com

  777. 777

Oh gosh there are so many memories I wish I would have had the Vado for, from milestones to birthdays. The most recent being yesterday for our picnic on Mother’s Day. My son was being silly and out came the silly string cans, it was flying everywhere, I was in tears from laughing so hard. That was surely a memory I will keep in my head but it would have been great to have it on ‘film’ to cherish forever.

  778. 778

A memory that I wish I would have had the Vado to capture is a trip to Denver that I took.

I sang a song to my kinder when she was in her first year. She laughed and laughed…and I really wish I had that one video. I sang it again a few weeks later, and she didn’t laugh nearly as hard.

  796. 796

The memory I wish I could have captured was my daughters first birthday last month. She had her own little cake. She dove fast first into the cake. She didn’t get really messy but she sure was a little trip. I would have also liked to catch the frosting fight my oldest son and I had.
