Zooming All Around In The Mazda CX-5

I received the 2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring FWD to test drive for 9 days during our vacation, in order to facilitate my honest review. No monetary compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

Mazda CX5

During our recent vacation to Orlando, I had the chance to check out the 2014 Mazda CX-5 for 9 glorious days. I honestly didn’t want to give it back. The Mazda CX-5 is one of the smaller SUV’s on the market but it fit my family perfectly. While we may need a little something bigger for long trips (our kids are used to being nice and far apart in our minivan) this would be the perfect short trip and around town car.

I loved the soul red color with black leather interior, but before I got really check out all that we put it right to the test. We had to head to the grocery store to stock up on a few goodies. I was very impressed with the size of the trunk. Honestly, when I saw the vehicle for the first time, I was a little unsure about how much would fit in the trunk, but when I opened it I was pleasantly surprised. I could tell it would hold as much, if not more, as my mini-vans trunk area.

Trunk space isn’t the only great thing about this sporty little vehicle. The leather interior, skyactive tecnology, easy to use controls, dual temp a/c, heated seats, great gas mileage, navigation, and so much more make this one of the vehicles I would consider when we buy again. Check out some of the photos from this fun little SUV

I loved the Sirius radion, an optional feature, we were constantly jamming out to the 80’s and 90’s hits I loved (much to my kids dismay). The steering wheel made it easy to answer a phone call (after you’ve synced your phone through the bluetooth system), as well as, control the radio functions.

Roomy enough to fit my husband, who is not a small guy, I was impressed with the back seat room not to mention the room the front seats had.

Two of my favorite features were the blind spot monitoring system and the front headlights. I know, who knew headlights could be a favorite feature, right? First, the blind spot monitoring system.  It is a little light that comes on when you are driving if someone is in your blind spot. My husband and I both loved that feature a lot. Not that you shouldn’t still check by looking,  but it was really cool how right on it was.

The headlights were a favorite because of the HID Headlamps with auto leveling and the adaptive front lighting. Both of those made the headlights move directions so you could see better. The auto leveling gauged if you were facing up or down (like on a hill) and adjusted the headlights accordingly. The adaptive lighting went into effect when you turned, the headlights would swivel (for lack of a better word) to aim the direction the steering wheel was turning.

Here are a few other features I didn’t highlight but still needs mentioning that can be found on the Mazda CX-5

  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Heated power mirrors
  • Power moonroof
  • Heated front seats
  • Driver power lumbar support
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Push button start
  • Rearview camera
  • Center armrest with storage
  • So Much more.

The Mazda CX-5 offered so much that I could see this being a great SUV for anyone who doesn’t have a family with more than 3 kids. It’s sporty, roomy, great on gas (how many SUV’s can say that), and has features galore. This particular model was $30,640 but they start at (according to the website) $21,395 for basic models.

What do you think your favorite feature of this vehicle would be?

Wow, I am impressed with all the great features. It does have a lot of trunk space for a vehicle of its kind. I love the color, too. I would really love the Blind Spot feature. there are tons of kids in my neighborhood and I am always checking and triple checking that I’m not running over toys, kids or dogs. Thanks for the thorough review!

I’m usually not much of a fan of red cars since they’re so common around here, but that one is really pretty! 🙂
