Okay so maybe saying I can’t live without them is a bit dramatic however I don’t want to live without them. Granted I really can’t possibly use them all at once so one can wonder why I need them all. The answer to that is because I want them all so there. I am not one to pay for a lot of apps, free is best of course, but I buy some and the ones I have spent money on are definitely worth the money I spent on them. Chances are however that if you find a paid one you love you can more than likely find a free version with ads or one similar from a different maker.
As a blogger some of the most important apps on my iPhone are the ones that are social media based. So we will start with those. For the tweetaholics like myself I absolutely love the following twitter apps:
TweetDeck ~ The desktop twitter client that most of us love is available for the iPhone (and iPad as well). I love this columned design as much as I love the tweetdeck app on my Macbook. You can sync this app with your tweetdeck that is installed on your desktop so what columns you are following there, you can follow now on your iPhone. This is a free app.
Tweetie 2 – This twitter app I love because you can flip your phone horizontally and then read and tweet in “widescreen”. I prefer holding my phone like that to text so I love that I can do it when I tweet. Making it very easy to reply, retweet, tweet, add photo’s, shorten links tweetie is more often than not my first used twitter app when I want to tweet away from my iPhone. You can also follow, unfollow, block, unblock with as much ease as when you are on Twitter itself. With threaded dm’s you know exactly what last was said. This is a paid app but the $2.99 price tag is well worth it with all the options available.
Tweetphoto – I prefer this twitter picture sharing over TwitPic for one simple reason, you can see the twitter stream and the @’s to you. Uploading a photo is a cinch and you can add tags to the photos for searching. Simplicity is key and sometimes there is a picture you just can’t wait to get home to share, hence Tweetphoto comes into play. This is a free app.
Okay let’s move away from Twitter and move into more Social Networking/Media whatever you want to call it. A few of the apps I downloaded on my phone to help with blogging, keeping connected, etc.
Facebook: This is a MUST HAVE for me. I keep up with a lot of my family and friends through facebook and they do me. So I love that while I am away from home and don’t have access to a computer I don’t have to worry about missing that engagement announcement or that new purse my friend just picked up. I simply log in and voila the updates are at my hand. Though on the facebook app you can’t play alot of the games with ease like you can on Facebook itself. So if you are a Sorority Lifer like me well that will have to wait until you get home. Make favorites so you don’t have to scroll through your friends list to get to someone particular.
WordPress: Perfect for those of us so addicted to blogging that we see something and feel the need to blog it right away. The only downfall to this app is you can use the plugins you have such as SEO pack and add tags/categories to your posts, that will have to be done when you return home. And you can approve (or unapprove) comments while you are out from this app.
Whrrl: Share your story in pictures. Check in at pre loaded points or create your own and share a story. Great for making people jealous when you are in Vegas and they aren’t or for sharing a shopping trip and products you love. Just remember it does make a map of where you check in so make sure you trust your friends not to become stalkers LOL.
Linked In: The site we all love to connect on outside of Twitter and Facebook. Linked In app is for those professionals who want to check their connections while on the go. Linked In keeps your professional network in the palm of your hand. Oh and one of the new features I love about this is you can go into the “In Person” tab and connect with nearby linked in people instead of having to manually add them. LOVE THAT!
Skype: If you don’t know what Skype is I do not call you friend. Okay that’s a little drastic, but on pc’s/laptops Skype is a huge thing. You can instant message, make pc to pc phone calls (how cool is that alone) or call any home phone from your Skype application on your desk/laptop. How great was it when they became an app for my iPhone. While to make calls you have to be on a Wi-fi network, you can keep up with those individual or group chats while you are on the go.
Mashable: No explanation needed on this one well unless you are not in social media, in which case this whole blog post is probably boring you. Well we all know what Mashable is, up to date social media news. Nothing more to say other than it’s a needed app for those like me. Moving on.
Bump: Last but not least, this app makes it easy to exchange contact information from my phone to yours. Once you have downloaded the app, simply make your “card” and then when you open the app and bump phones you get my information. And if you have done your job and made a “card” for yourself I get yours. GENIUS! No more manually adding contacts. That is so 2008.
Okay I think that’s enough for this post and that is only some on “page” 2 of my iPhone, I didn’t even begin to delve into pages 3-8 (games, readers, news and more). Those can wait until another post. After all social media is a big part of my life so why not share those apps I use the most first. That’s normal right? There are SO MANY social media apps out there this doesn’t even begin to come close to scraping the surface, but it does show you precisely why I will always be an iPhone kind of girl!
*No disclosure needed because I bought the dang phone myself and all the apps mentioned in this post I mentioned because I like, not because I got asked to so there ya go.

I am somewhat confused by what all the buttons are used for. I used to think it was a shame that I have to ask teenagers what some of them are for…….sign, then I would have to ask them to decode their descriptive word for the button. Geeze, am I already to the point that I have turned into my mother?!?
Jenn- I’m SO very addicted to Bejeweled. I play it every spare moment I get. I am always trying to be my highest score. The “Blitz” game is my favorite.

Thanks for this list. And ditto on Allison’s list, too. I’m glad you started with your blog and social networking list. It’s like a confession that makes me feel better about my own weakness for those things.
