I am getting ready to test out a new device with Verizon and while I wait for it to come, I wanted to wrap up my thoughts on the HTC Windows Phone 8x. There were both things I loved (which I featured) and things I think need to be worked on.
Things I loved about the Windows phone:
- Ad free Pandora through 2013
- Live tiles, stay updated in real time
- Being able to connect to our xbox live accounts
- The sleek look of the phone, I love pretty phones
- Beatbox Audio, a new way to listen to music.
- Skydrive, easy access to photos online
- Front Camera, takes great photos
Things I think need to be improved:
- App selection…no instagram!!
- Not a fan of the windows system.
- The apps I did get (facebook, twitter, etc) didn’t seem to have as much ease of use as my current smartphone
- Storage. It just doesn’t hold up to the 64GB I currently have.
- No removable batter, though to be fair this is also a complaint on my current phone.
While the pros definitely outweigh the cons, down the road I would not switch to a windows platform from my iOS. I definitely prefer the operating systems iOS and Android. Plus I like my apps, apps was a major killer for me, though it would not necessarily be an end all for the right phone. The HTC Windows Phone 8x is a spiffy little phone and I loved part of it, in the end it just wouldn’t be a long term phone for me. However, that shouldn’t deter you, I have plenty of friends who love and prefer it over the operating systems I love. So, it really boils down to preference.
I hope you have enjoyed some of the things I have showcased about the HTC Windows Phone 8x over the last few months. I have a new device coming to me very soon and I can’t wait to share it with you all as I get to know it. Watch for the announcement post on it coming soon!
Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program and have been provided with a wireless device and 3 months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.
