Before going in search of perfect dining table sets, there are several things to consider. First and foremost is the style that you wish to create. For example, a modern hi-tech table and chairs would look completely out of place in a Victorian home. So having established the style that you want, you can now consider what material you would like. Solid oak and pine are very popular, with pine being the most affordable, but oak in a room that is full of old beams will look amazing and is worth the extra, especially as the dining table is a place where family and friends will often get together to catch up over a great meal.
Kitchen Dining – Integral Furniture
Many homes these days have a combined kitchen and dining area. Sometimes there is room for a dining table set, other times not. It would be best though to make room for this integral home furniture especially because there’s no substitute for a comfortable dining table. One may opt to include a breakfast bar or a central island. However, either can seat up to eight people depending on the area that can be allocated. Another great space saver is to have integral appliances as this can free up floor space, although it would mean sacrificing a cupboard or two, but with today’s great hanging racks for pots and pans for example, this need not be a problem.
The ‘Wow’ Factor
With so many dining table sets to choose from, the possibilities are endless and there are many inspiring designs out there. From country style to formal extending and not forgetting the butterfly table which is great where there is limited space. All decided – so now comes the best bit – the shopping.
The Modern Home – What is Best
A modern home can be pretty much what you want it to be, however dining tables made in toughened glass – whether clear or tinted – will look fantastic. Put together with stylish high-backed chairs and a piece of modern pottery in the centre, will set it off nicely. Another great buy for a modern home is a high-gloss dining table set, but be sure to buy it as a set, with matching chairs, as anything else would look wrong. With lemons and greens very much in vogue at present, it would be ideal if the chairs came with cushions or padded seats in one of these colors, or another bright color to match your room.
