Becoming A Disney Voice Over Actor: Voicing Dipper From Planes: Fire and Rescue

Disney Recording Booth

Look at me all serious like, I mean how often does one get the chance to become a disney voice over actor?

When you watch an animated movie, you hear the characters and think, wow they are really good. You might also think voice over acting might be easier that “real person” acting. During my trip to L.A. I had the chance to head into the Disney recording booth and try my hand at Dipper, who you will get to know in Disney’s Planes: Fire and Rescue. How did I do? Well you tell me, here is my clip, I am the voice of the yellow plane…Dipper

So, how did I do?  I thought I did pretty darn good!

No matter how many times I watch the clip, I crack up. I have to say I make it look (or would that be sound) easy…okay so maybe that’s what you think, but that’s not the case. The real work is up to the sound engineer, they do the matching of the scene to the voice. In fact, I had to do a few retakes to get something they could work with. Check out the video of yours truly, actually in the recording booth recording clips to be used in the above video.

Sheesh, that was not as easy as I thought it would be. It was so interesting to get to chat with casting director Jason Henkel and sound engineer Paul McGrath.  I am so glad they gave us a chance to step into the studio, it was such a fun experience and I would love to do it again. Follow Disney’s PLANES FIRE AND RESCUE on Facebookand Twitter!! The movie releases on July 18th.

If you had the chance to voice any Disney character, who would you choose?
