As I mentioned I am part of the #DisneyPaintMom program where I was hired to paint my daughters room using one of the Glidden Disney Paints, which can be found at Walmart. We decided to stick with the girls current wall color (soft yellow) as it is fit for a princess theme and can grow with her, if she ever outgrows princesses. If she is anything like me, she will never outgrow glitter so I knew going with the All That Glitters would be perfect.
After shopping at Walmart for the paint and supplies we headed home and got her room ready to paint, which mean moving most of the stuff away from the walls, she has A LOT of stuff! Finally it was time to paint. After making sure we washed the walls and got all her “art” off the wall we were ready to apply the glitter paint. The thing I absolutely LOVE about the all that glitters paint is the ease in which it can be applied. I will totally admit to not liking to paint rooms because of how precise you have to be. If you want color to look good you have to be precise. With the All That Glitters Disney Paint you can throw precise out the window. In fact the instructions say this “Starting in the upper left corner of the wall, use the paint roller to apply the finish to a small section – approximately an 18-inch square. You don’t want straight edges or perfect lines as you would with traditional paint, so roll at different angles.” DIFFERENT ANGLES!!!! No straight edges or perfect lines. That’s my kind of painting right there.
So, you see, what normally would have been passed off to the hubby as his job suddenly became a job I could do, and do well. Paint messy…you got it. When I first started applying the paint I was a bit thrown off because it does go on milky white, thankfully the instructions warned me about that too. After painting we only had to wait about an hour for it to dry…quick drying means you can decide if a second coat is needed before adding wall decor. While some parts of the wall glittered beautifully, there were a few areas that needed a bit more paint so I added a second coat and let it dry overnight.
The next morning I went in, when the sun was shining brightly through the window and was thrilled to see this:
Glitter galore! My daughter walked in to get her school clothes and came out squeeing with excitement. I may have been a bit jealous over the look and begged my husband (to no avail) to let me do our walls in glitter. Until I can convince him I will just take a daily stroll in the girls room. I have been thinking of other ways I can incorporate the All That Glitters paint such as toy chests, headboards, but for now we will stick with just the walls. We have fun in store for them, princess kind of fun, but you’ll have to wait for our final reveal post to see just what how we decorated.
Be sure to check out more information and how to videos on DisneyPaint.com, then share the ideas you hope to use the Disney Paints in.
