Cooling Off This Summer With Pure Leaf Iced Tea

Summertime here in the Florida panhandle has been HOT! As in, I am sweating buckets the minute I walk out my door to my van. While I can’t change the heat index I can hydrate with something tasty…Pure Leaf Iced Teas help cool me off in this heat wave. I love that I can grab one of the bottles and go or use them to make fun and tasty recipes.

Before I share the recipe I made I want to share a little bit with you about what Pure Leaf is doing to make a difference. If you have had Pure Leaf Iced Tea in the past you know it came in a glass bottle, that’s not the case anymore. Now you will notice it is in a plastic bottle. Pure Leaf is dedicated to the environment and wanted to make a change that would positively impact the world we live in. PET plastic is 100% recyclable. The innovative packaging is more consumer-friendly for on-the-go and out-of-home occasions compared to the previous glass bottles. I love when a company is doing something to be accountable, it just makes me proud to already be a consumer of the brand.

As I mentioned you can drink Pure Leaf Iced Tea straight from the bottle, pour it over ice, or try out one of these tasty recipes from Top Chef judge Gail Simmons:

Don’t those look great. I admit to sipping a bit of the tea straight from the bottle but saved enough to make the Derby Day Tea which you can find here along with many other fun recipes, who knew you could use tea to cook with. I’m from the south so we drink a lot of tea but I never would have thought to cook with it. You learn something new (and tasty) every day. As I mentioned I wanted to try the Derby Day tea which is such a simple recipe to follow:

DERBY DAY TEA
Servings: 1
Prep Time: 5 minutes
3 ounces Pure Leaf Sweetened Iced Tea
3 lemon slices
6 large mint leaves
In highball glass, add mint and then crush. Add two lemon slices and fill glass with ice, Pure Leaf Sweetened Iced Tea. Garnish with one lemon slice.
Tip: For a special twist, add 1 ounce Kentucky bourbon. (I did not do this but you can if you want that extra twist)

I loved the hint of lemon and ment in the tea, it made it extra refreshing. It was yummy and just looking at it makes you think summertime…

Pure Leaf Iced Tea is definitely a great refreshing drink alone or in a recipe. Don’t forget to keep up with all things Pure Leaf on their facebook page. What is your favorite summertime drink?

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Lipton Pure Leaf. I received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I agree with you.. we had a hot summer here in the panhandle. It was the first summer that I purchased iced tea in a bottle and I really enjoyed it. It was so refreshing to take it with me on the go and quench my thirst. Thank you for posting the recipe here to try.
