I LOVE to read and by love I mean when I pick up a book I go all in. I tend to immerse myself pretty deep in the story when I pick up a book. It’s like an escape from everyday life (which everyone needs an escape now and then) and it just so happens this escape is completely affordable. I can pick up a book and go on an amazing journey with the characters (you’ll see very quickly I prefer fiction) and almost feel like I am experiencing the happiness, sadness, fear, love that they experience. I can’t tell you how many books I have sobbed through, laughed through, got scared when reading…you know an author is good when you can feel as if you are right in the book with the characters.
If you know me, you know I have the trusty series I return to when I seem unable to find anything I am drawn to read. Series like Harry Potter or Twilight (they are comfortable and I never tire of reading them, so they stay readily available). However, for my 2022 reading challenge, I am only going to count books I have never read, so my all-time favorites won’t be on this list (they can be another post for another day).
For my challenge, this year, I decided I would read at least 3 books a month (but hopefully more, because I want to do lots of book reviews). I will share my starting list of 36 here and if I get through all of those, I will keep adding to it. I will mark which one(s) I am currently reading (because, yes, sometimes I read more than one book at a time) and which ones I have read. Now without further ado, here are the books on my 2022 Reading Challenge List

So, there you have it, my (starting) list of 36 books I hope to read through this year. I hope to read much more than 36, but being a mom, wife, cheer coach (and all the other titles I carry) sometimes my reading time is limited. Some days I am free all day and could read an entire book and some books may take me a couple of weeks to read, if I am super busy. No matter, to read is to escape and we could all use a little escape!
George R.R. Martin stated it best, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, the man who never reads lives only one.” So, let’s get to living!
What are some books you are hoping to read this year?
