Blueberries Are Perfect For Healthier Eating in 2015

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council. I received a stipend to facilitate my purchase for my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Frozen Blueberries

With a new year, there comes new goals. For a lot of us, those new goals include living a healthier lifestyle. I can hear the groans now, healthy = foods that are not the tastiest. I know, I had those same thoughts in years past, until I discovered just how much I loved blueberries. I love them on salads, in smoothies, alone, pretty much anyway I can use them I will!

Why? Because they are good for me! Blueberries have just 80 calories per serving (one cup).  With 3.6 grams of fiber per serving, blueberries help you meet your daily recommended intake of fiber. Blueberries contribute vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese, making them a good choice to help meet nutrient needs.

As you can see above, I love to eat them plain (frozen) for a fun cool snack. This is perfect in the Florida heat. Sometimes, though, I want a little something more, so that’s when I add them to meals or snacks. One of the quickest and easiest snacks I am enjoying, using my blueberries, is greek yogurt with fresh blueberries! It’s super easy and ready to go in the time it takes you to open the yogurt and throw the berries in.

Whether I eat it just like that, or add in some cereal or granola (for crunch) it makes a delish snack or light lunch. In the new year there are so many ways you can live healthier, this is just the beginning. In fact there are so many recipes to incorporate blueberries, which are available year round, here are a few to check out:
