Chili Recipe That’s Perfect For The Upcoming Football Season

Bowl of chili 2

What’s that I smell just around the corner? Football…..and football means bringing out the chili! It’s one of my favorite times of the year! This chili recipe is awesome during anytime of the year; but nothing is better than watching and cheering on your favorite football team with a big bowl of chili.

Chili Recipe

Chili Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef, cooked
  • 2 cups Italian sausage, cut in to small quarter pieces
  • 2 stripes of bacon, cooked crispy and crumbled
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 Jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 (15 ounce) chilli beans, for more spice grab chilli beans in spicy sauce or mix it up between regular and spicy
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans of diced tomatoes with juice
  • 1 (6 ounce) can of tomatoe paste
  • 4 cubes beef bouillon
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup chilli powder
  • 1/2 cup of dark beer
  • 1 bag of shredded cheese
  • 2 bags of corn chips
  • sour cream

Chili Recipe Directions

Cook ground beed and sausage, drain. *If you have pre-cooked sausage, you can throw it in without cooking it first*. In a large crockpot, mix all the ingredients, until well blended. Turn crockpot on high and cook for at least 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

With this chili recipe, the longer it simmers the better it will be. It is always better the next day….so this is a great dish for dinner, with plenty of leftovers for lunch. Once chili is ready, it’s time to add some toppings. Add shredded  cheddar cheese, corn chips and sour cream to your liking and enjoy!
