Get Up And Go in the 2014 Kia Sorento EX AWD @DriveSTI @Kia #Review

2014 Kia Sorento

Recently, during a trip to Orlando, I had the chance to test out the 2014 Kia Sorento EX AWD.  To say this small size SUV is a powerhouse is an understatement.  Today I am sharing with you the Top 10 Reason I Love The 2014 Kia Sorento!

1) The Get Up and Go.  I admit, out little town, doesn’t require a lot of get up and go when driving around.   However, when I travel to other cities, most of the time the traffic is at a speed much faster than I am used to.  If I were to have been in either of my cars, I may have gotten pummeled.  Thankfully, the Sorento’s get up and go helped me stay right on course with the other drivers.  I wasn’t afraid of being run over, I was able to keep right up with traffic.  The power in this vehicle really surprised me.

Kia sorento Trunk

2) Perfect for over packers like me.  The trunk space was amazing.  I am an over packer, so when I finally put all my suitcases in the Sorento, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of goodies it held.  I could have fit my whole family’s luggage back there.  The Sorento definitely has over packers in mind with this trunk!

Kia Sorento Sun roof

3) The sunroof!  Living in Florida, it’s a given I love the sun. I love the open sky and seeing nature.  The panaromic roof with power sunshade on the Kia Sorento is meant to do just that.  It is massive.  Going from the front all the way to the back seats, everyone can enjoy the view! It opens completely, for you to get some fresh air, over the front seats.  I was very impressed with the sunroof, because it let a ton of natural light in.

Kia Sorento Touch of A Button

4) Everything is right at your finger tips!  The steering wheel is essentially a way to control pretty much anything in the Sorento, with the exception of the cooling/heating system.  Answer phone calls, control the radio, set cruise control, and even use voice activation for navigation.  I love that the Sorento makes it easy to control the most used things in a vehicle all in one place.

5) Blind Spot Detection.  While I know this isn’t the way to make sure no one is in your blind spot, you still have to make sure to look, I love that this feature is available.  A little yellow light blinks in your side mirror and alerts you to oncoming cars, so it’s almost like it’s telling you before you are even thinking about moving over.  I think this is a great feature, because I know several people who tend to take the wheel with them, when they look in the blind spot.

6) The gauging area.  Now, I know you might be thinking “Okay I guess she likes to keep her eye on her speed” and you would be correct, but it’s so much more than that.  I love that it’s digital, makes this vehicle feel very technology forward.  However, what I LOVED about the gauge area, is that under the MPH, whatever information I wanted was there.  I could choose for it to show mileage, miles per gallon, how much til empy, music, when my next service was due, but my favorite setting was the navigation setting.  It showed me my next turn right there under the MPH!  That was so impressive to me!  I didn’t have to look over at the navigation system, which seemed safer to me.

Comfort and fun

7) Heated AND Cooled seats.  I have always heard of vehicles having heated seats, which do come in handy occasionally here in Florida, but I had never experienced cool seats until the Sorento.  This is exactly what I want in my next vehicle.  In Florida, it’s quite often we end up sweaty and sticky to our leather seats, but with the cooling feature, no more.  With a continuos cool burst of air there will be no toosh sticking in the Sorento!

8)Dual-Zone climate control.  My husband and I have different wants when it comes to cooling, and chances are when I am comfortable he is hot, when he is comfortable I am cold.  Thanks to the dual-zone climate control, differing wants can be had!!!

9)Push button start and lock opening.  This is always going to be one of my favorite vehicles that offer it.  I love being able to toss the key fob into a pocket in my purse and be able to open, lock and start the vehicle with just the of the button.   I enjoy, even more, that when you open the door with the button on the handle, it only unlocks the driver side unless you press it more than once.  A feature that is key for safety if you are traveling alone.

Last, but definitely not least, to round out the top 10 things I love about the Kia Sorento….

10) EVERYTHING!  Honestly I loved everything about this vehicle.  It is sporty looking, you get the SUV feel without driving around a tank, you get 18-24 miles per gallon on the gas, it’s pretty roomy, and drives great.

Kia

I could really see myself in one of these.   While it might be a little snug for us, it would work, but if you have a family bigger than mine you are going to want something bigger.  The 2014 Kia Sorento EX AWD, with the options I drove, has and MSRP of $37,500.  Of course you can pick less customizations (or more) and adjust the price.  The basic level of the Kia Sorento EX AWD starts at $31,700!  If you are looking for an SUV but don’t want something too big, then I highly suggest you check out the 2014 Kia Sorento!

It looks so ROOMY! I love it. We’ll be buying a new vehicle in 2015, and I think we may have to look at the Sorento!

  2. 2

My friends have a sorento, and they love the interior space. It’s an older model without the parnoramic sunroof.

  3. 3

I have been hearing so many good things about Kia’s lately. I am definitely interested in looking into getting one when it’s time for a new car.

I did a week-long test drive of a Kia Sorento a few months ago and I fell in love with it! Kia makes such luxurious SUVs, who knew?! My husband was shopping around at our local dealerships because he wanted to buy me one, but he had literally JUST bought a new car for himself and I can’t handle two car payments right now! LOL!

  10. 10

I used to have a Kia van that my husband is now driving. Kia’s have been great vehicles for us!

  11. 11

That truck is SO SPACIOUS! That’s exactly what I need for groceries and travel purposes. I have always wanted an SUV but thought they were too bulky for a small family. This one looks like the perfect size for us.

  12. 12

I have heard such awesome things about this car! Sadly, the rough Kansas gravel roads tear up every car I ever get. :/

  13. 13

The Kia Sorento is a really nice car. Lots of room and lots of fun accessories! Great price!

  14. 14

That trunk space is impressive! I’d need something with three rows, but we could squeeze into this for a trip.

  15. 15

I love test driving cars. And Kia’s rate well in Consumer Reports. Looks like a fun car.!!

Seems like a nice vehicle. Too small for me though.

  18. 18

Look at all that room! It looks amazing – we love Kias!

  19. 19

That has to be one of the coolest cars on the market. Loving the cooled seats, the sun roof area, AND the navigation being able to be be displayed on the gauge area is GENIUS.

  20. 20

I super heart the Kia Sorento. It’s a fantastic family video, gets great MPG and offers so much tech for such an affordable price.

  21. 21

I love the trunk space in this car! My friends have one and it’s so spacious!

I’ve actually never ridden in a Kia before but I’ve been looking at their cars for my daughter who is going off to college. Thanks for the review of this. It gives me a bit more knowledge about their cars.

  29. 29

That is such a cool car. Last summer, I saw one parked near the aqueduct and fell in love .. It’s such a beautiful car.

  30. 30

I love the Sorento. I wish I had gotten one when I bought my car last year. Maybe my next car.

  31. 31

  33. 33

This looks like a great rig! I love all of the features and you look great in it too!

  34. 34

We’re really debating getting one of these. We need more room!

  35. 35

We own a 2013 Sorento and I love it more than words can describe.I was treated wonderfully by Kia during the one mechanical problem I had as well.

  36. 36

Looks like a very nice car! Kia always has cool features!

  37. 37

Sounds like you really enjoyed test driving this Kia. The only time I’ve ever driven a Kia was in 2001. I wasn’t impressed then so I hope they’ve changed since then.
