2014 Kia Soul + Review @DriveSTI #CarReview

STI Disclosure

Kia Soul

Who said the best things have to come in big packages??  The Kia Soul + makes sure to put that to rest.  The small, but decked out Kia Soul packs a punch.  It’s perfect for those who want a SUV type vehicle without all the ‘big’ of a SUV.

Kia Soul Plus

While the outside is a bit boxy, don’t let it fool you.  The options available inside are magnificent!

I loved the leather trim seats in both the front and back.  The back seat has a 60/40 split so should you need more room for toting stuff (and you likely will, touch on that in a bit), that is an option!  With multi-adjustable front seats, you can always have it just right for yourself or whomever will be driving and/or sitting up front!  I will say, being spoiled from previous reviews, I did miss being able to set my seat preference, but at least the drivers seat was a power seat!

Kia back seat

The outerboard rear and both front seats had heating seating.  That’s one of my favorite features during the cold, yes we get cold in Florida.  However, most of the year is pretty warm which means hot seats when you have leather, I LOVED the cooling option on the front seats.  This option will be perfect during hot summer days!!

Kia Soul sound system

When you listen to music in your vehicle, you want the sound to be great.  With the infinity sound system in the Kia Soul +, great is exactly what you get. The sound was crisp and the kids loved singing along to some of their favorite songs.  This particular model came with and AM/FM/MP3 audio system, as well as, SIRIUS SM satellite radio (and a free 3-month subscription).  With USB, Auxillary input jacks, and bluetooth capability, you can listen to music right from your device!  To me, that’s awesome because I have all the music I love on my device so now it’s easy to listen to!  The final option on the sound system are the fun lighted speakers.  With three settings you can jam out and have some fun lights going in your Kia Soul!  The kids loved this!

Temperature in Kia Soul

The AC, which features automatic climate control, is pretty smart.  You can manually adjust the temp and air flow or you can set the degrees and it will adjust itself.  No muss, no fuss when you are on car trips!

Kia Soul Navigation

Speaking of travel, I have to have navigation and the system in the Kia Soul + is top notch.  It lets you know when tolls are coming and it even tell you the speed limit of the road you are on.  I wondered if the speed limit actually worked, so I watched it as we changed roads and sure enough, it did.  I am assuming you will have to stay on top of map updates for it to stay correct.  With a very vivid screen, it’s easy to see the direction you need to be going and the little extra ding when you are by your turn is great so you don’t miss it.

Panorama Sunroof

Being in Florida, I love to see the sun, which is why I LOVE the panorama sunroof in the Kia Soul!  It makes you feel like you are outdoors but still getting to enjoy the benefits of your awesome car.

Steering wheel in kia

The dashboard and the steering wheel are what make the Kia Soul + a drivers car.  With all the controls for radio, voice activation, cruise, as well as being able to reset trip, gas miles per gallon, the steering wheel really is like the hub for the driver. OH and the steering wheel can be heated…which was really a fun feature!

Kia Soul trunk

The Kia Soul + is a great car if you have no kids, if you have kids it might not be the best vehicle for your family on road trips.  My mom and I used it to go to a blog event and while we fit most of our items in the trunk we did have to let them spill into the backseat, so it’s not the best for traveling.  But it would be a great around town vehicle for small families.  Getting 23 to 31 miles per gallon, you get great gas around town or on the road!

Here are some more features to take note of:
* It’s got airbags galore, hopefully you won’t need them but it’s great they are there.
* For safety it has lower anchors and tethers for children, ABS system with brake assist, TCS, ESC, vehicle stability management, hill start assist control, and tire pressure monitoring
* With center console with armrest and a rear seat center armrest, storage and comfort are readily available.
* Remove keyless entry and push button start with smart key
* Tilt and telescopic steering column, makes it easy to adjust for each driver.
* Dual front 12V power outlets and a single luggage outlet ensures charging devices is possible.
* Rear camera display and a cargo cover.
* UVO with eServices

The 2014 Kia Soul + is truly a great piece of goodness in small packaging. While it won’t work for us, for long road trips, it would be a great around town vehicle! Price point starts at $24,010.00 for featured model!  What are some of your favorite features mentioned in today’s post?
