When Calls The Heart Boxed DVD Set
When Calls The Heart, is a show on The Hallmark Channel that the whole family can enjoy together! I received the entire first season on DVD to check out and can’t wait to delve into it. Life has been a little crazy, so we haven’t had a chance to watch the entire season, but I am always on the look for family friendly shows to share with my readers. This is definitely one of those shows.
“When Calls the Heart” tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges. Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion. The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the mines to keep a roof over their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) who believes Thatcher’s wealthy father has doomed the lawman’s career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate’s daughter. Living in a turn of the century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.
The series is inspired by Janette Oke’s bestselling book series about the Canadian West
When Calls the Heart, has 12 full episodes and has Michael Landon, Jr as the executive producer and director! We will, hopefully finish season 1, this coming week, so we can join in Season 2! I love that this is based off a book series, which likely means I will be jumping into the books once I start watching the series.

If, like us, you haven’t seen all (or any) of When Calls The Heart, be sure to DVR episodes starting tonight, April 25. That way you can pick up Season 1 and watch, then have all of season 2 ready to go! When Calls The Heart Season 2 premieres on The Hallmark Channel!
**I’ll be sure to update this post on my full review of the series, once I have had the chance to finish season ! But so far so good!**
