Most couples go out for Valentine’s Day, but we decided to make it a date night in! What’s better than spending time with the one you love, enjoying dinner and wine, watching a romantic movie and getting to cuddle…Not much in my opinion. Thanks to receiving a copy of “The Best of Me” and a Pizza Hut Gift Certificate, and challenged to have a #BestofValentine evening, we were ready to enjoy a night in!
We grabbed our pizzas (pepperoni for me, veggie for my handsome man, and a dessert for both of us), our wine glasses, the blanket to cuddle under, and our movie. We then headed down to my parents fish camp for a night in! Celebrating love and having a date night doesn’t have to be expensive and out on the town. In fact, some of my sweetest chats and memories have been nights in. There is just something much more calming and intimate (not in a sexual way) about spending a night in with the one you love.
We sat down to watch The Best of Me, the newest movie based on one of Nicholas Sparks novels. This movie is a beautiful love story that will likely kick your tear ducts into high gear!
Based on the #1 New York Times Best Seller from celebrated author Nicholas Sparks comes this tender, romantic drama about the timeless power of love. When former high school sweethearts Dawson and Amanda (James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan) meet at a loved one’s funeral 20 years after tragedy separated them, their love is reignited. As they recall and relive the past, they come to a deeper understanding about the choices they’ve made. Also starring Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato, and featuring beautiful scenery along with music by Lady Antebellum, The Best of Me is a powerfully romantic story of love, hope and second chances.
I LOVED the book and loved the movie just as much. I will admit the ending, while so very sweet, did make me a little sad. That is remedied because the “Tears of Joy” Edition Blu-ray and DVD will include an all-new storyline and “Storybook” Alternate Ending so Amanda and Dawson finally get that second chance at love.
We had such a great night, laughing (and me crying during the movie), talking, and just enjoying the company of each other it reminds me why I need to do date nights in more often. So, the next time you think you have to go out to have a romantic evening, think again, enjoy a date night in with the one you love, good food, and a romantic movie like The Best of Me.
