Care For Your skin

When I was younger, I wish I had cared more about my skin. Now that I am in my mid 30’s, I think back to all the things I should have done when I was a teen to care better for my skin. I didn’t realize the importance of good skin care until I was in my 20s, so now, I make sure to stay on top of it and remind my kids all about caring for their skin while they are young! After all, how could I not want this girl (and my boys) to keep  that awesome skin??!!

Here are a few tips to help you (and your teens)have the best skin possible!

  1. Wash Your Face.  This may seem like a super obvious tip, but that’s one of the things I really slacked on.  I would go to bed with makeup on and put more on in the morning without washing.  How often you need to wash your face depends on your oil level.  If you are dry like me, you may want to simply wipe down your face in the mornings before applying makeup and apply ESSENTIALS Dual Action Moisturizer. The moisturizer will help moisturize dry-skin while treating and preventing breakouts. If you are oily you will want to wash in both morning and evening, with the Day and Night Pack. Keep your skin feeling fresh and clean all day long with CLEAN & CLEAR® MORNING BURST® Facial Cleanser and NIGHT RELAXING DEEP CLEANING face wash.
  2. Exfoliate.  Even dead skin can play a part in breakouts.  So, once a week make sure to use a scrub to wash away the dead skin, so the dirt and grime it holds doesn’t go deep down.  The BLACKHEAD ERASER® Scrub, with multi-action beads, exfoliates and cleans, helping you see fewer blackheads in just two days!  Or try the Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub, it invigorates skin by cleansing deep down to the pores.
  3. Get specific.  We’ve already mentioned some face washes to use, but sometimes you need to get something that is targeted, depending on your needs.  The ADVANTAGE ACNE CONTROL 3-IN-1 FOAMING FACE WASH contains max-strength acne-fighting Salicylic Acid, it thoroughly cleanses skin and helps prevent future pimples. The CONTINUOUS CONTROL® Acne Cleanser – Featuring a pore-penetrating acne medication to fight and help prevent breakouts. The Deep Action Cream Cleanser Sensitive Skin  is specially formulated for sensitive skin to clean deep down to the pores without over-drying.  These are the ones my teen son chooses between, depending on what his skin is doing.  Thanks to lots of sweaty moments and a football helmet that holds grossness, we have to fight with strong products.
  4. Spot Treat.  The ADVANTAGE® Acne Spot Treatment is shown to reduce the appearance of pimples in just 4 hours.  This is something else my teen son has as part of his skin care regiment right now.  He has breakouts and while the washes work great to keep his skin clean, sometimes he needs a little extra help getting rid of those pesky pimples.  I use this myself, when I have a random pimple pop up!
  5. Eat Right and Hydrate.  Certain foods and lack of water can play a big part of skin issues.  So make sure you are eating a balanced diet and drinking lots of water.
  6. Keep Your Hands Clean.  We all touch our faces, but do you ever think about what all you are putting on your skin, if you aren’t washing your hands before touching your face.  Keep hand sanitizer with you in case you can’t get to soap and water!  Keep the dirt and germs away from your face!
