Last year, I had the chance to attend one of Havertys Home Fashion Workshops, the Holiday Hosting workshop, and I was very impressed. They really taught us, things I would never think about when decorating.
How you can use a serving area as both somewhere to serve drinks/appetizers or it can be used as a display table. A great way to show off all those family photos, that the kids tend to get embarrassed over.
Taking bold steps such as using painted storage pieces, that I might never have thought to use. Seriously, how cool are these pieces:
Both of those pieces could be used in either public areas of your home, or in the comfort of your bedroom where you might just want a little something extra. The Havertys Home Fashion Workshop also taught me it’s okay to mix and match. I always thought you need to get one color/shade and stick to that…not the case. It was suprising, to me, that mixing shades of wood and different colors really made the room have a different affect.
I learned so much at the last Havertys Home Fashion Workshop, that I am definitely looking forward to attending one (or all) this year. Especially with the themes they have!
Check out what’s on the agenda for the workshops in 2014
- February 22 – Organization
- April 12 – Staycation
- June 14 – Decorating ABC’s
- August – Fan Cave
- October 18 – Style vs. Trendy
- November 22 – Rooms: Blah to Beautiful
Every single one of those, I think would be perfect for me…staycation, fan cave, style, blah to beautiful…yes please. I highly suggest checking out one of the workshops this year, use the locator to find one near you.
