Demand for employees who possess knowledge in the area of business intelligence is at an all time high in 2012. Networking along with data mining and security, are among the most valuable IT certifications available. Two of the Cisco certifications made this list, not surprisingly at the number one and two spots.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate – This is one of Cisco’s most popular certifications. It covers fundamental skills for entry-level professionals who will be working with mid-sized switched and routed networks. Skills learned include IP, WAN, security and wireless networking. These skills have the potential to boost your salary by approximately nine percent and the mean annual salary is around $79,500 per year.
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert – The CCIE is Cisco’s most advanced certification. It is an extremely challenging certification to achieve, less than one percent of professionals worldwide hold an active CCIE. There are two parts to the exam, a rigorous 100 question written exam and a lab portion that is strictly performance based. Network engineers who hold a CCIE certification are recognized worldwide for their expert level knowledge and skills and mastery of Cisco products.
