Making It Work With Tim Gunn @ Fabric Care University Day 1

Recently I had the chance to go to Cincinnati for an event with Procter & Gamble called Tide & Downy’s Fabric Care University. While we were there Tim Gunn and myself became bff’s you know. Hold on Hold on I have the picture to prove it

You see! I am telling you we have a show in talks The Tim & Toni Show. Okay maybe not quite there yet but it does have a nice ring to it don’t ya think? Now before I go into what I loved, learned and the fun I had I am going to go ahead and post my Photo Montage from the trip. Yes it’s about 10 and a half minutes long but it’s all the photos and it’s fun to watch so go ahead and watch…I’ll wait!

So how’d ya like it?  Pretty cool huh.  I took as many pictures of the things I was allowed to take pictures of but some things have to remain hush hush until we get the okay. Isn’t that being a horrible tease? Anyhoo moving along. I arrived on Monday and met Audrey, Danielle, Bridgette & Daniel who were my fellow carpoolers and off we headed to The Westin in Cincinnati. Upon arriving we were greeted by the wonderful PR persons who put this amazing event together, given our goodie bags (you can see what was in them in the montage), and headed to put our stuff in our room.

A few minutes in the room to get off my feet it was rush back down to the lobby to head to Procter & Gamble to learn a little history of the company. We were allowed access to the P&G Archives which is not open to the public and learned all about the companies history from past to present. Let me tell you if I tried to do it justice I couldn’t but my little brain took in so much information from Mr. Archive (I totally forgot his name) that it was going into overdrive.

After learning about brands and how they used to make wigs for movie stars. Seeing an Emmy live and in the flesh (or not in the flesh since it’s technically not a living thing), finding out Old Spice was originally made for women and smelling a Vick’s vapor rub that was 100 years old that still smelled like the ones on the shelves today and so much more it was time to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and fashion with Tim Gunn. Wait before I move on I know you are pondering the Emmy talk. Yes P&G has an Emmy, along with the many brands they make they also have a production company..daytime soaps mean anything to ya!

Okay moving right along. After a quick change it was bus time and we headed to the art gallery for a night of fashion, food and fun with Tim Gunn. Once at the gallery we took our pictures on the red carpet after all that’s what we celebrities do right? Then patiently (or not so patiently in my case) waited for Tim Gunn to come out. Out he came looking dapper as always. When we walked in we saw white shirts on mannequins and a bag of goodies on 5 tables. Tim tells us we are designers tonight.

Now a note to interject here. I can put outfits together and love all things fashion but I have not claimed nor will I ever claim to be a designer. Ask me to put an outfit together no problem. Ask me to make a white shirt something besides a white shirt and we have a problem. The closest I have come to designing is painting my kids hands and having them smush them on a shirt. Design and I don’t mix. Oh well you only live once right.

So after having the rules told my team and I get to working on our white shirt. Not really sure what it came out as in the end but we had so much fun. Laughing and changing the lace 500 times I truly enjoyed every minute of making the fashion no-no. Yes it was definitely a no-no. After the competition was over and I realized my dreams of ever being on Project Runway were dead it was time to enjoy some eats and visit with the other attendees. As we sat, drank (virgin drinks for me thanks), ate and visited a good time was had by all.

One thing I loved was Tim Gunn really interacting with the attendees, everytime he talked to me he addressed me by name and made it very personable. LOVED HIM! I did catch him staring at my boob when it was picture time…okay so it was probably my name badge but the other sounds so much more scandalous. Finally it was time to return to our hotel, where I took a hot bath, played on my new goodie and rested in the super comfy bed. The next day was all about learning and learning is what we did. But that will have to wait for another post to come soon.

Day 1 of the event was amazing the lovely PR persons who put this together did a heck of a job. I met amazing women, worked with a great company and got a new BFF Tim Gunn. What more could a girl ask for right? Well learning where unseen stains on clothing come from and that’s what you will learn about in the next post!

Oh, Toni, that looks like so much fun! I would love to meet Tim Gunn. I’d be paranoid that he was critiquing everything I wore, though….did you try on 10 outfits before you went?:)Looks like you learned a lot and had a great time.

Sounds like a wonderful time! I’d sooo love to meet Tim Gunn. I’m attending my first blog event in just a couple of days. I’m both super excited and super nervous.
