Over at Mama’s Losin It she hosts Writers Workshop Wednesday…well I am posting mine a day last but better late than never right! I chose the “If I could live in any era of history, which would it be and list 10 reasons why”
Personally I would have loved to have lived in the 50’s and my reasons for that are as follows:
1) Poodle skirts, I would wear a poodle skirt today if I knew people wouldn’t look at me like I needed to be locked up.
2) ELVIS if for no other reason to want to live in that era, he would be reason enough.
4) The cars! You tell me all the cars from the past are not freaking awesome and I will quickly point out that the lamborghini you drive while yes is sleek holds not a candle to the cars from back then in coolness.
5)People actually new their neighbors and were friends with them. Everybody new everyone!
6)The men in the 50’s were all hot!!! Well all the pictures I have seen anyways.
7) They had cool hairstyles!
8) Curves were accepted, models and actresses during that time actually had meat on their bones and *gasp* it was considered beautiful.
9) The music! I love me some 50’s music. I remember being small and my grandmother always singing me songs from that time and have had a fondness of it all my life. They just don’t make it like that anymore.
10) I would have loved to have been there to see the very first McDonalds or even just the diners from then.
Those are the reasons I would to have loved to been in the 50’s era. What era would you have loved to lived in?

Can you have nostalgia for a decade you never lived in? That your parents never lived in? I think I have it! Great list!
I agree with you on the 50’s. Both my parents were born in 52 and I think it would be fun to see them as youngin’s too (so an added bonus, lol)
those are some great reasons to live in the 50’s. Especially, Elvis.
I love the cars as well! My heart belongs to the Woodys and the Chevy Bell Airs! That time seems so simple!
I love the 50’s. I’m a total 50’s wife/mommy at heart. Poodle skirts! Poodle skirts! Poodle skirts!
So many people have mentioned the fifties… Life was a lot simpler… not nearly as commercial… divorce was not tolerated… birth control was medieval… family sticking together was the norm no matter what… no stores were open on Sundays… everything was local rather than global… long distance was a hassle… a trip by airplane was a once in a lifetime experience for most folks… no fast food… no viagra… no ADHD meds… no ADHD period. People were happy with a lot less. It’s funny how nostalgic people are about this decade.
Great list. I like the poodle skirt idea with a pair of saddle shoes, thats style.
Let’s make poodle skirts cool again! 🙂
And Elvis… (insert me drooling and big googley eyes) Elvis was hot, Hot, HOT!
This is a really fun list. I would have loved to see the diners, the cars, the movie stars, all that fun ’50s stuff. Wouldn’t be half bad to see Elvis, either.
mmm, the cars were indeed cool, and curves weren’t frowned on – that’s worth bringing back if nothing else!!
So true…love the 50s…
Nice work!!

dude, no blogging in the 50’s!
I wish I was a teen in the 80’s! I love all things 80’s, but the generation I have to claim is the 90’s!
Poodle skirts are super cute. I think we should bring them back. 🙂
And you are skin and bones sister, if you lived in the 50’s they would be tossing you burgers left and right!!
