Wordless Wednesday: Ice Storm 2009

Today’s Wordless Wednesday is what we have been dealing with over the past 2 days. The ice is around a tree branch is at least 1 inch thick in diameter pretty much anywhere it had built up and the tree you see used to be a big beauiful tree in front of our house and well now you can’t really see our house because it has fallen and cracked and broken. Right now we can’t even get out of our front door if we need to go anywhere.

These are a few of our back yard, trees down everywhere, the kids won’t be playing out there for awhile and our trampoline enclosure was crushed:

This is what we encounter when we try to go out our front door:

Good gracious! I haven’t dealt with an ice storm in years. Forget how crazy and scary and beautiful it can be.

  5. 5

Wow – as destructive as they are, ice storms can make the world look so beautiful too.

  6. 6

Beautiful pictures, but definitely a day to stay indoors.

  7. 7

Wow, that is way worse than ours. I will have to do a WW, haven’t for months, and put some of our pics up. Not even close to being as bad as yours.

  16. 16

Oh WOW!! We haven’t had one theat bad since ’94 and boy am I glad. I was relieved to get up this morning and find only snow! Although snow and ice are a rare find here in Mississippi! Good Luck with the clean-up.

  17. 17

Glad you guys are okay! We had a similar ice storm not too long ago with pretty disastrous results. Great pictures!

You got it a lot worse than we did this time. Your pictures look like our pictures from Dec. 07. (Oklahoma) This time was bad but not THAT bad.

It will take you forever to get all that cleaned up. It took Tulsa a year to clean up the mess.

    Stay warm! ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. 28

    Stacy's Random Thoughts

Oh, WOW! You guys got tons more ice than we did! Isn’t it amazing how beautiful it looks in its destruction mode? The tree branch in front of your front door makes it look like you live in an ice castle… ๐Ÿ˜‰ Glad you and your family are OK! Stay warm… (HUGZ!)

  35. 35

Oh wow – you poor thing! You can’t even leave your house? Do you want to come and stay with me for awhile (if you can find a way out?). It’s about 70 degrees here in Cali right now, but it gets really cold here at night (in the 30’s). I know, I know, you’re not impressed with our “cold” weather!
