Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill
Admittedly, for our family, it can be hard to find something that pleases everyone. Whether it’s something two children enjoy and the other doesn’t or vice versa, it seems most places we try to go as a family end up in at least one person being not thrilled. Or it could be that to keep the kids happy, the parents don’t get to enjoy that adult atmosphere. Thankfully, Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill in Destin, Florida has everyone covered!
The minute you arrive you start to feel like you are on a nautical adventure. Once you walk through the doors, you realize you have been transported deep into the ocean where you are surrounded by nautical life galore. Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill in Destin, is so perfectly themed; you may feel like you need to wear a dive suit when you go in. I will say it’s a bit chilly, so bring a jacket to be safe.
Uncle Buck’s is the perfect place for a family night out because you can get your food and fun all in one place. They are a restaurant with bowling alleys. While visiting Uncle Buck’s (though I had been here before) during Brandcation, we were treated to “tasting plate”. The manager gave us a plate of food to let us try some of the current hits.
First, we had alligator bits with a jalapeno, jelly, cream cheese dipping sauce. These were so good, very spicy, but even when my tongue felt like it was on fire, I couldn’t stop eating them. Next I had a blackened mahi-mahi with a pineapple pico de gallo sauce, again no complaints. Flavor was perfect, and I could eat that pico de gallo with a spoon. Last was the wild boar slider. I had never had wild boar before, but I will be eating it again. It was so good, the flavor, and cooked to perfection. I suggest you get every single one of these items when you visit Uncle Buck’s.
Don’t worry, though, if those aren’t up your alley they have a full menu that include everything from appetizers to burgers and salads to “fishbowls”. There should be something on there for everyone! With two private rooms to host parties, as well as a trophy room. For the adults, they can enjoy drinks at the 40 seat bar that features a replica of the 1200 pound bluefin tuna the founder of Bass Pro Shops caught.
Once you are finished with dinner (and drinks), it’s time for some family fun and maybe even a little competition. The bowling areas are so themed, you feel like you are under water and looking into a glass bottom boat (when you look directly at the lanes)! Seriously, how cools is this:
As if the lanes, themselves, aren’t cool enough the suspended fish (which are all replicas of fish that can be caught within 20 miles), the balls return through the mouths of alligators and sharks. Kids LOVE this and adults can have just as much fun. With big screens you can watch sports while you play, definitely catering to the adults who want to keep up with their favorite teams.
The entire atmosphere is fun and family friendly. The service is friendly and on point, and the food is flavorful. On your next trip to Destin take the time to plan a night of food and fun at Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill!
