Hello All, welcome to Quotable Sunday, a day to share your favorite quotes with everyone. I think we all know the drill here LOL. Post a new post on your site with one or more of your favorite quotes, grab the link and add it to the linky below then check out the other participants.
This week my quotes are about media:
Journalism largely consists in saying “Lord Jones is dead” to people who never knew Lord Jones was alive. ~G.K. Chesterton
We can’t quite decide if the world is growing worse, or if the reporters are just working harder. ~The Houghton Line, November 1965
Newspapers: dead trees with information smeared on them. ~Horizon, “Electronic Frontier”
I always turn to the sports section first. The sports section records people’s accomplishments; the front page nothing but man’s failures. ~Earl Warren, quoted in Sports Illustrated, 22 July 1968
If one morning I walked on top of the water across the Potomac River, the headline that afternoon would read: “President Can’t Swim.” ~Lyndon B. Johnson
Trying to determine what is going on in the world by reading newspapers is like trying to tell the time by watching the second hand of a clock. ~Ben Hecht
Media is definitely something that is great at times but sometimes it’s not so great LOL. Hope you have a great Sunday, I am off to read my paper LOL.

Very nice quotes today! I have always liked this one:

I liked the Johnson quote, as well. I think it would be true for any modern president. That’s one job I’d never want. Really, I wouldn’t want to be in any job where the media follows you constantly, lol.

Great choice of topics. I have a love/hate relationship with the media (especially TV news programs), some things they just take too far, and it then goes from being news to sensationalism, but I find myself watching just waiting for the new piece of info that I didn’t already know!
I like this one, it is so very true. We think that “worse” things happen these days, but in reality, they probably always did, we just did not hear about them all or so quickly. With electronic media, we hear about things instantly.

I wonder about this too…
We can’t quite decide if the world is growing worse, or if the reporters are just working harder.
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
